Default Home Theater Television Show

There are hundreds of home reno/buying/selling television shows, cooking, travel, etc.

Why isn't there a Home Theater Television Show? The subject matter is endless. TV, 3-D TV, DIY, CES shows, Turntables, Audio, Video, upcoming Blu-Ray/DVD reviews, manufacturer profiles, factory tours, gaming, personal home theater walk-throughs, product reviews.

There are a countless amount of forums/magazines out there that deal with Audio/Video, you would think that there would be a market for this. A nice half hour show on a Saturday afternoon would be great. I know I would watch religiously. What do you think?

If this topic has already been discussed, I apologize.

I've often wondered about this myself. I think it's a great idea and would welcome it with open arms!

Same here.

Unfortunately, if any network would consider doing this they'd probably assign their local "weatherperson" for the task.

That's a good point. It would have to be someone with audio/video knowledge. I could just see the Bose company grabbing all the commercial spots.

There may be some real headaches in keeping it honest. While looking at people's home theaters (humble or grandiose), it would be a terrific idea, but once reviews and comments started about consumer electronics, some manufacturers might get upset.

I can just see the result once people started giving real-life examples of the issues with Bose, for example. Or indictments of home theaters in a box, or bad reviews about the reliability issues with certain televisions or players, things like that.

The producers would have to walk a tightrope - and would probably soft-pedal some touchy subjects, ticking off viewers.

If they do it, I'll DVR every show!

Because, someone like me would be very critical of the show and not get much out of them. A theater in the home is a lot more than a television hanging on the wall of a family room. And any show would undoubtedly be nothing more than product placement for Bose, Monster Cables, and the ilk.

And why should I, as a potential viewer, consider any offering to be of expected value when all of the boutique shops around me constantly show off Badges on completely uncalibrated equipment to signify the more money than brains conclusion they have concluded?

I'd much rather hear from folks that actually bought and own the equipment, explain how they setup their equipment, calibrated, etc., as a final solution. I'm not interested in the Best Buy motif of what they think HT is in order to push another boob-tube TV.

Hmm, I guess I wasn't too critical after all.

The show could always be the host(s) going to different homes in which a HT/TV room was put together and talking to the homeowner about their gear and experience putting it together. Then the host(s) could talk about potential improvements that would be within a certain budget. (the homeowner's)

I dunno. Big Daddy is a bit TOO knowledgable at times. Half of his sticky threads go way over my head.

The only show I seen that come close is Man Cave. But they don't really do a real HT show. It's mostly about renovations for guys and their space.

+2.Bd would have a big following. I can see it now- On the next episode of Big Daddy's play house we'll build a sub that only fits through garage doors and is guaranted to split you home in half. With special guest Crazy Blue.
