Default Is my math correct? Going CIH DIY

So, does this sound right for a 2.35:1 screen? I think it is, but I wanna check before I cut.

118" wide x 50" tall = 128" diagonal, correct?

Thanks!

Ok, cool. How about the overall 118"x50"? Does that sound right for a 2.35 screen?

I think if you go to Projector Calculator and pick your projector and type in your info. It will tell you your measurements.

a^2 + b^2 = c^2
118^2 + 50^2 = 16424 = c^2
c= 128.126

118/50 = 2.36 ~ 2.35

That is a huge screen. My 16x9 screen measures 49" x 87" (2.35:1 content is more like 37" x 87") and that is just about perfect for my room. 50" x 118" is monstrous. What projector do you have?

Optoma HD65 for now. I am waiting to see if/when 1080p 3D will be an option. If its within reach sooner than later, the HD65 will be replaced. Trying to wait just to see if I can future-proof to some degree.

Your 16x9 screen is essentially the same height as the planned 2.35. All you need is to stretch it a bit!

Mine is 50" x 120" so it's 130" diagonal and it is awesome. I am glad i didn't go with the 100" diagonal, i would have always regretted it.
