Default You do realise Paramount are gonna sit on their ass and do sweet FA?

They've just received 150mil, they weren't releasing that amy movies anyway. All their gonna do is bring out shrek 3 then transformers and take their sweet ass time about it, why? to create a demand for their films. Exactly what FOx has done and its paid off. Oh yeah they'll encode the movies, bring out a few on HD-DVD but thats it.

as with any deal, i'm sure they'll be required to bang out a certain number of movies over the next 18 months. this is only a set back, imagine if universal goes neutral, we'll be happy as can be.

I did like that the Viacom press release was touting 3 titles, Blades of Glory, Shrek 3 and Transformers. Fox responds within hours with 29 by the end of the year!! W00tage!!

Yes, there is obviously more to it than 150m, read the press release, and then read this.

Let's just hope those Fox/MGM releases are quality titles (and not overpriced to boot). It's fantastic that Fox has jumped back into the battle, but if all they've brought is water guns, it may not help much. It would be a shame if they "pulled a Universal" and just start barfing out titles just to get titles on the shelf to add weight to the BD side while the quality of the transfers suffers.

All we need is a bunch of HD DVD fanboys going back to ol' adage of complaining about how they're overpriced for mediocre quality. But, if the announcement is anything to go by with BD-50's and increased BD-J support, they might just be making them badass offerings compared to what M$ and the HD DVD group just did with Paramount.
