i posted another thread about my tv and wonderin how i could get the best out of it. u can read it here :https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...monster+cables
basically i thought my tv didnt looks so good cuz of my hdmi cable but after reading somethin about distance from ur tv im thinkin we arent sittin far enought away. and ive noticed this cuz u can see my tv from our kitchen and it looks noticeably different. but our couch is roughly 6 feet from our set. is that far enough or further(keep in mind we dont have the biggest living room)? i will talk to my mom about professional calibration but until then i want the most out of it while we save up. |

Sticky: Helpful chart for chosing TV size/resolution
the closer you sit the more obvious errors/degradation become...so if you sit close its better to have a 1080p TV. |

Sticky: Calibrate Your HDTV (read the links at the bottom of first post)
PANASONIC: Share Your Custom Display Settings ...take some time and read through these, see if anything helps. What kind of problem are you having? |

I just measured some stuff out. I use my PC as my media centre and Blu-Ray player. If I were to position a 32" 1080p screen on the closest edge of the desk (about 17-20 inches from my eyes when in my computer chair), the screen fills up a good portion of my vision, which is what I like. If I wanted to sit back on the bed (40 inches or so), I would need something like a 50" 1080p HDTV to get the same effect.
It all depends on several factors. |

I think what you need is a viewing distance calculator. Just put in your TV size and the calculator will give you optimum viewing distance. Here is the link:
http://myhometheater.homestead.com/v...alculator.html I recommend the THX viewing recommendation which is about a 35 degree viewing angle, that is what I use. Don't go by what TV manufactures and local chain store will recommend, they are trying to sell more TV's and give huge tolerances. This is to sell small TV's for any room environment to more people. |
