Blue Underground to release VIGILANTE

And our friends at Blue Underground have set William Lustig's Vigilante for release on Blu-ray Disc on 9/21 (SRP $29.98 - the film is already available on DVD). The release will feature a brand new 2K high-def transfer of the original uncut and uncensored version, mastered from the original camera negative. Audio will be DTS-HD MA 7.1 lossless with D-Box motion control enhancement. Extras will include BD-exclusive audio commentary with co-producer/director William Lustig and co-producer Andrew W. Garroni, a second commentary with Lustig and stars Robert Forster, Fred Williamson and Frank Pesce, theatrical trailers, TV spots, radio spots and a promotional reel.

This is an amazing transfer for a 27 year old movie by a small time distributer. Although I don't know anything about this movie, I am amazed on how new the film looks. I think this is how the major movie studios should handle transfers on their older movies.

I haven't seen a pre HD era film look so new since Baraka, don't get me wrong even major Hollywood movies 4k restored looks like its deteriorated compared to this.

I got my amazon order for VIGILANTE today. Can't wait to watch it... I hear it isn't a great film at all, but it may make a nice double feature with Return of the Living Dead and maybe Star Crash.

just finished watching it. it really is impressive what Blue Underground does with these movies, it was like seeing it for the first time.

Recently got this on Blu-ray and it does look great.

I kind of like it thanks to some cool actors' participation and scenes sprinkled throughout the movie, but it's not 'good' by any means. The story is weak, there are some subplots that are stupid and unnecessary, it is very poorly written and edited and it ends abruptly and unsatisfactory.

I'm shocked when people put it up there with Death Wish as one of the greats in the revenge subgenre. This doesn't come close to Death Wish is any department.

The transfer on this is gorgeous! So colorful, detailed and with great contrast. Some minor black crush here and there maybe but looks great anyway. Looks like a damn UHD. Stunning stuff. This and Maniac Cop 2 are the only Blue Underground releases I have. I need more, ASAP!

Movie ain't nothing to sing about really but it's fun and right in my wheelhouse.

Wrong movie. This Vigilante is from 1982 and stars Robert Forster. You are thinking of A Vigilante that came out earlier this year.
