Default HD from Dish Network$$

Hi everyone, I called Dish Network to find out whats the cost of HD programming, and its like $20 extra per month. I understand paying $150 for a HD receiver, but why would they charge a bigger monthly fee the programming is either in HD or its not it has nothing to do with them.

Just thought I throw this out there and maybe get some feed back from some of you that do have HD satelite or cable and if so is it worth it?

Thanks,

I live close enough to a reg TV transmitting tower, that I can pick up my local FOX, CBS, NBC and ABC HD channels with a reg antenna. 5.1 sound also. I also get the "TUBE" network for music.

You can check what is available in our area at:
http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/welcome.aspx

pick choose an antenna, then
You can put in your zipcode or actual address for a better assesment.
once you get your list of channels you can check digital channels only, and find out how far you are from a tower.

i live in tahoe and did this just for fun. nothing digital for me anywhere. thus, i have direct. before the reno stations went hd, i got the waiver and have the LA feeds in hd. so, i get to watch all my hometown teams when they aren't on a reno feed and aren't national.
