Question....
(May need a Dish Network knowlegeable person here!) What will I need to connect my Mitsubishi HC-1500 to my Dish Network Service???? Here's what I have..... and NOTE: I DO NOT WANT EXTRA FEES..... I think anything more (dollar wise) for T.V. is ridiculous.... Currently I have Satellite service in two rooms (since that's the most you can get without extra charges) and I have no HD programming, and No DVR etc..... I have basic crappy service that gives me 80-90 channels, and I get Cartoon Network, a few ESPNs, HGTV, etc.. so I'm happy with what I get...... The way they have my cheapo-satellite set up (CURRENTLY), is ONE BOX but I have TWO REMOTES (one replaced by a universal though) anyways..... The way it works, the One television that was in our "family room" had the box connected to it, and the television that was in our bedroom could access the satellite channels just by using the remote.... no changing inputs etc... it just worked with the remotes, and had the channel guide etc.... Here's what I'm thinking... My Projector obviously doesn't have a T.V. tuner, so I'm going to HAVE TO connect the Box to the Projector, and have the "Family Room" television operate with just the remote (like the bedroom t.v. did before) I was in a ranch style home, but now I'll be going to a new home so the Family room will be on the first floor, and the Theater/Projector will be on the 3rd floor.... is this going to be a problem? I'm planning on connecting the other blu-ray player to television that WAS in our bedroom, and putting it in one of the guest rooms.... so this will give me a good excuse for a third player for the family room ![]() ANYWAYS.... anyone know if I'll have to get a second box b/c I'm going from two LCDs, to an LCD and a Projector now???? Thanks.... I'm sure I have more questions, but maybe the guy will just fire it all up when he gets to the house Monday ![]() EDIT: Also, without going over there to look, what is the best way to connect a FP to a non HD receiver???? I already know for a fact that the piece of junk Dish Network box doesn't even have Optical in/outs on it!!!!!! |

Beta,
I hate to tell you this but you're going to really have to step up your service in order to be satisfied with it. If you have basic Dish, then you probably have the basic Dish 311 receiver. It only has composite out on it or S-video out, both of which your projector will take for a 480i signal. If your new place isn't networked for satellite or cable, you'll probably need to run a line between the TV locations to carry the satellite feed from the receiver to the second TV. If you really want to step it up, bump up your service to DishHD. If and when you do that you'll have to keep in mind that each Dish HD receiver provides HD content on the first tuner output, while a standard definition signal is fed to the secondary TV outlet. I've got 4 TVs in my house, 2 that are HD, so I have 2 622 DishHD DVR receivers in my system. Each one handles HD on the primary tuner, while the secondary tuner handle my bedroom, and our son's bedroom. I would place a 622 HD DVR in your projection room, run it's HDMI cable through your A/V receiver for audio and then have that routed to your projector. |

If you don't want to pay extra monthly fees...get a OTA Tuner for your local HD channels.

Thanks for the responses........ I'm all moved-in, and t.v. is hooked up....
HERE'S THE DEAL..... I don't mind that t.v. looks like crap on the projector, I expected that.... but now, on my other t.v. (which doesn't have a box, it just uses the remote) it looks TERRIBLE.... lots of pixelation etc..... kinda like I'm looking through a screen door...... The guy said it was because the run of cable was so long, and it was "Unavoidable" My wife is talking about getting rid of the dish all-together because she thinks it's dumb that it looks that bad. I guess I'll deal with it for awhile, and see what happens ![]() |

Looking at this, but I'm curious.... do I need to connect an antenna, or can I go Coaxial in from the dish network box to this, then this, to my Projector via HDMI ??? and I'll get all of the HD channels (local ones that is?) or do I have to get an OTA antenna too? |
