Looking at picking up an additional TV in the next month or so (plasma or lcd). As much as I tout Plasma and the bright colors - something has me checking out LCD. However, I am not fond of dead pixels coming to my screen.
Anyways, after owning our 42" Samsung since January, I really like the picture and the quality. I am planning to stick with them unless someone can give me a better reason not to. My new set will be 50-60" depending on price and style. Any other suggestions? Only LCD and Plasma |

Anything in the >50" range is plasma domain.
For plasma TVs look no further than Pioneer PRO-FHD1. There is no better TV. |

almost all tvs are onpar with plasmas now since lcds, can all do the same if not more contrast then there plasma counterparts in response to the PRO-FHD1 just read the review on cnet its a great set but nothing in the tv sets it apart or above anything else... I'd stick with LCD if your going to do gaming if not could try plasma

agreed if you go plasma go pioneer. on the other hand, i have a samsung lcd and it does an excellent job with black levels and bright colors it also has a glossy screen like many plasmas do. in my opinion it doesn't look to much different than a plasma at all, the guy at best buy said, "this thing is a hybrid between a plasma and an lcd". i really love it. it also depends and use of the tv. if you plan on doing any gaming go lcd, non-gaming plasma, above 46 inches go plasma, below 46 inches lcd. its up to you, both are great.

Also the panasonics picture quality over the samsungs plasma woul dbe better. Better tones, skin, colors etc. If you take alook around in a B&M store you can find the panasonic 50 720 for as low as 1450 and the 1080 for as low as 2150. U wont find any lcd near that price unless u sacrificign quality or size. If you want 50 - 60 i'd suggest the pany plasma's. Good quality. great reliability. low power/heat and awesome price. the 58" you can find for around 3450. |

One of the new Pioneer KURO plasmas is exactly what you're looking for. The price is right and the picture quality cannot be beat. While LCD has made some major moves over the last year it still cannot match a Plasma. Give AVS a visit and watch some reviews at Cnet. Cnet hasn't tested all of the new Pionners so be sure to check AVS.
http://reviews.cnet.com/Televisions/...html?tag=glnav http://reviews.cnet.com/4321-6482_7-...html?tag=prmo1 http://www.avsforum.com/ This is a big purchase in a great time, but there's lots of information out there.. Make sure you get exactly the specs you need.. For example if a unit doesn't have enough HDMI ports look into a monoprice switch OR a HDMI av receiver.. etc etc.. Good luck in whatever you choose. |

Yes. Don't want to go over 2.5k per panel. We will be getting two panels.
I have narrowed it down. Both will be Plasmas. As much as LCD has improved, I am not totally impressed yet. That and dead pixels on a 2.5k purchase just would not bode well with me. We have a Samsung and a Panasonic plasma in the house. I must say, both have excellent pictures. Very hard to tell the difference. The panel that I am considering right now is this http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-FPT508...blurayforum-20 I looked into the Pioneers and albeit they are nice, I am not keen on spending that much extra. Samsung and Panasonic have served us well. As for a Panasonic model - Maybe this one.. http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-TH-5...blurayforum-20 Both are pretty much right in line with our budget. Both have excellent reviews and both I can trust. They each look good as well and support full 1080p. As for HDMI 1.3 - I don't know. If you all have suggestions in this price range, postem. But these are the best contenders right now. Anything above 50" is just too big right now and costly. This will put our TV total in the house to 4 Plasmas and 2 LCD's. Sweet! ![]() |
