Exclamation Blue Underground unleashes Deep Red on BD - May 17, 2011

Deep Red Blu-ray

Deep Red Blu-ray Review

BU will release Dario Argento's Deep Red on Blu-ray on April 26, 2011

http://www.dvdaf.com/search.html?has...d*rgn_us*med_b

Since it shows up on DVDAF as "Announced", it's safe to assume they got the word from Bill Lustig's people

Or you can get the Arrow region free from Amazon UK now. Either way, good news!

Yeah, I was just about to order the Arrow release but I'm a big fan of Blue Underground's BDs so I will wait for this one. Plus they ae likely to have their own set of exclusive features as they always do. Bill Lustig had mentioned last year that they were working on the Deep Red BD so I'm sure it'll be just as good if not better than Arrow's release. Although Arrow has some cool cards and a poster that come along with it... Good times to be an Argento fan

Yep, it sure is. Now if we could just get a proper release of 4 Flies on Grey Velvet.

Deep Red from Blue Underground is a MUST. I hope it'll look better than Arrow's release.

Thanks for the info! This is a must have for me. Hopefully it will have a nice batch of special features also.

The Arrow version will have a greatly inferior transfer to the BU version.

And your source for that is... ? They're working with the same master. It's very unlikely that BU's version will be THAT much better.

BU is doing their own new scan of the film. My source is Bill Lustig himself.

Even if they were using the same master, which from what I've heard so far they are not, Arrow's blu-rays employ digital sharpening and look overly processed. Just because they're imports and have new extras, doesn't mean the aq/pq is superior.

Differences between aq/pq were minimal at best. Biggest difference were the special features.

They should find a way to "standardize" their ratings, because in this case it's ridiculous. No way in hell that Arrow's BD deserved the same PQ rating as BU's.

PQ is top notch and the mono soundtrack is a solid track.
