And your source for that is... ? They're working with the same master. It's very unlikely that BU's version will be THAT much better.

BU is doing their own new scan of the film. My source is Bill Lustig himself.

Even if they were using the same master, which from what I've heard so far they are not, Arrow's blu-rays employ digital sharpening and look overly processed. Just because they're imports and have new extras, doesn't mean the aq/pq is superior.

Arrow will be the one to go to for Fulci's The Beyond, though, if anyone's interested as BU doesn't have the rights to that one. They have all the other Fulci and Argento classics (save for Suspiria of course). So at least we have two good companies putting out Italian horror on Blu

Possibly, but I'm not so sure. The Arrow's region free status would seem to indicate there were no negotiations b/w BU/Arrow to lock their respective releases. It would be irrational for BU to lock their release with a region free release of comparable quality available for months prior.

You might be right. This BU release came with a big suprise to me, as I remembered that BU were to announce some other Argento flicks but not Deep Red in 2011..

Well just have to wait and see witch release of Deep Red I will be picking up. I am going just for the best PQ, or for the extras (Arrow) if both are equal in PQ.
