In other news, Remember how we first revealed last year that Fox is preparing to release James Cameron's The Abyss and True Lies on Blu-ray? More confirmation has arrived in the Norwegian magazine Release.no's latest interview with Vincent Marcias from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment (marketing), which indicates that both titles are expected to be released in 2011. By the way, the text also apparently indicates that the Star Wars Blu-rays will include "only the latest special edition" versions. Don't kill the messenger. http://thedigitalbits.com/#mytwocents Last edited by Beta Man; 01-31-2011 at 11:43 PM. Reason: added link |

i watched The Abyss (whichever cut it was) about a year ago or so and i liked it, but don't think i'd be willing to spend over $12 on it. and as for True Lies, i gave it a 2.5/5 and unless i rent it and like it more the next time, or can get it for, let's say $5, that will be one i pass on as well. although i'm sure The Abyss will look great and True Lies will sound great. dvd sounds like crap. |

Of course the Abyss will be the extended cut and, more likely, both cuts via seamless branching just like the DVD. There's not a chance in hell that Cameron would allow them to release just the theatrical cut

I can't wait for "True Lies"! I'm not a huge action buff, but I just love the combination of comedy, drama, and action. I love every one in this movie - especially J.L.C. and Eliza Dushku - I'll never forget seeing True Lies for the first time after watching Buffy and realizing that Faith was the little girl LOL.
Abyss, I'd pick up sub-$10 sometime...I only saw it once, would probably only watch it once or twice on Blu. But it's one I'd like to have in my library. |

The Abyss is a great movie but not one I would rewatch too often. However True Lies is such a fun movie and truly deserves to been see on Blu-ray. I am a purist, but I would not hold it against Cameron if he were to fix the obvious stunt double in Schwarzenegger's scenes i.e. they did with Natalie Portman in Black Swan. Regardless the movie will be on my shelf, day 1.
