Spider-Man Collection - no PCM? - Blu-ray Forum

Is it true that if u buy the Spiderman collection, Spiderman 1-2 will NOT have PCM sound? only Spiderman3 will.

This is odd to say the least as far as I know these are going to be the only Sony releases with out PCM. Why would Sony do this considering Spiderman and Spiderman 2 are two of their biggest movies.

So what audio do they get if not PCM? That definatly sucks. Please don't say DD 5.1 because then I would have better audio on Spiderman 2 (Superbit).

NO PCM WHY? WHY? WHY?

i thought they were just releasing them with DD 5.1

I believe that is right.

Spider-man 1&2 are one disc each, and have TrueHD
Spider-man 3 is a two disc set, and has LPCM + TrueHD

I guess rather than compromising the PQ on 1&2 Sony opted to free up the bits with TrueHD to allow space for the extras.

What extras would these be?

There won't be any extras for Spider-man or S2, unfortunately (for some)... which I personally don't mind as it's the film im after!

I NEVER watch special features, NEVER! Don't have enough time in my busy life lol

From what iv heard, theres no extras on Spidey 1+2...

I dont mind that, i got both of them on DVD and thats enough extras for me, all i want is the movie on Blu with amazing picture and sound

Spiderman 2 is going to include Spiderman 2.1 and soundtrack will be DolbyTHD (24bit\48khz) it Should be more powerful than the 16bit.

We are going to wait and test it when it's out.

I know I don't care about extras usually, I only care abot them if the movies based on a real event. Case in pont Black Hawk Down Blu.

Dolby TrueHD is fine with me.

Although the point is, Sony has released EVERYTHING else with PCM, so why not these? Oh well, no point making a big deal out of it.

They are going from 16-bit PCM they had in the majority of their existing releases to 24-bit TrueHD in Spidey. I'd say that's more than a fair trade-off.
