Default Any reason to not get LOST Complete Collection over individual seasons?

Hey everyone, I've just started watching Lost (I just started season 3 the other day, so far I'm loving it!) and I wanna get myself my own copy of the show.

I was thinking of going for the Complete Collection, but is there any reason that the individual season sets would be better? I'm really only asking in terms of bonus features. Like if there is anything that's only in any of the individual seasons that's not on in the Complete Collection.

Thanks in advance!

Sounds good, thanks for the replies, everyone. I'm gonna get myself the complete collection.

This show is soooo good by the way. I'm actually glad I only started watching about a week ago because having to wait for new episodes every week and new seasons every couple of months would KILL me!

Yes, I think in spite of unresolved plot issues, some silliness and (for me) an ending that didn't quite work (although most critics thought the ending was quite emotional and fulfilling), that Lost was the finest dramatic series ever to be broadcast on television.

One thing you might want to do is check the Entertainment Weekly website to see if they've archived the Lost analysis they used to do every week. They had a writer who each week wrote very deep and long pieces on possible interpretations of each show. Some were based on literary sources, some on the bible, etc. These were quite sophisticated pieces and I was always surprised that these came from EW. It might be fun to reach each one (if they still exist) inbetween watching each episode. What the author got wrong was just as much fun to read as what he got right.

Slipcover is important for me for single release BD title, but Lost complete set so nice, I will go for complete set.

I have the individual sets 1-4, season 5 in the Dharma Initiative kit and the Complete Collection. Looking back I would have gone with just the individual seasons and I may do it eventually. The problem with the Complete Collection to me besides being bulky is the fact that the discs are housed in just cardboard sleeves and can easily be scratched straight from the factory. Disc 1 of season 3 was scratched along with a disc in seasons 5 and 6 in my set. The bonus disc in the Complete Collection is hidden within the case topper that's shaped like the island. Although this was cute the first time I found it, it's really inconvenient to have to turn the thing around and around like a
[Show spoiler]frozen donkey wheel.
Something I would point out though is that the discs in the Dharma Initiative kit for Season 5 have no artwork on them and are plain black to match their floppy disc appearance however in the regular season 5 set they do have artwork on the discs.

The disks included in the Complete Collection are the exact ones given in the individual releases, they're just packaged together.

Lost is my favorite show of all time, and I had been purchasing the seasons as they were released on DVD prior to switching to high definition. I received the complete collection on Blu-Ray as a gift and it's an awesome set, great for any fan that has devoted a lot of time to the series. It's got a couple nice little gems, and some cool packaging. It's the biggest conversation piece in my collection, by far.

The Complete Collection also includes a few features on the bonus disk that are not available anywhere else.

The only reason I'd have considered getting the seasons would be to chase down the retailer exclusive disc sets. Best Buy had a bonus disc with the blu's of seasons 5 and 6 and there were early exclusive discs from... target? for the dvd releases.
But the complete collection is fantastic and I have no regrets going that way.

Well you won't find season 3 because if I'm not mistaken the actual packaging changed.

Does anyone know what that extra "insert" is on the left side? I have the case in the middle but I don't have the other two parts.

That's not an insert. It's part of the package.

I have a spare season 3 slipcover. I sold all my individual seasons cause I'm a sucker for complete collections, but I held onto my slips for 3 and 5. I'd part with it for a reasonable price/trade. Just pm me if interested.

The complete collection has a slip cover too. A huge one.

My reasons for buying the complete collection were...

1) I didn't already have any of it.

2) It was on sale real cheap for what you get from the set.

Season 3 is the oddball of the slipcovers simply because it was the first season of Lost released on Blu Ray and they went all out with a sturdy hard cardboard with a snap enclosure. I lucked out and bought a copy of season 3 from Amazon Marketplace and it was copy with a slipcover...I'm missing a slipcover for season 4, though...

Season 3 might be a tough one to find. Most retail stores sell Season 3 slipless. Season 4 is a little bit easier to find. Have you checked your local FYE??

You can get the bonus disc that is included in the full set if you can find the Best Buy exclusive Blu Ray set of season six , I think something got messed up and they packaged the wrong disc. Regardless I already had season 1-5 so i didn't need to get the box set and feel i just lucked out getting the extra disc.

Note though that the disc was a DVD not blu ray so if you have to have the bonus in Hi Def then the full set is for you...if not (like me, only watched once) then if you can find the best buy set for a reasonable price may be a better cost alternative, not sure as I really haven't looked at lost pricing since I completed my collection..

anyway just my 2 Cents

Exactly. And as far as availability of the BB exclusive for S6, there's literally TONS. Some stores still have the S5 exclusive! If you're a sucker for being complete though, the true task would be buying the DVD version of the BB exclusive for S6. Then you'd have the proper bonus disc, as well as the "mistake" one. It took me awhile, but I finally got the "right" bonus disc
