Default Decided im buying a plasma. But what type?

Im looking a 55+ inch plasma with amazing pq and IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE 3D

Any high end picture quality plasmas out there with NO 3D?

In 2011, most of the TV's come standard with 3D. It's not like you have to use 3D anyways. My Samsung C7000 is a 3DTV and I haven't used the 3D feature in almost 9 months.

I'd say go for the Samsung PN59D7000, or the 55/60GT30 if you are on a budget.

If money is not a problem, go for the Panasonic VT30.

I agree with gempulse. If you plan on calibration, then D7000/8000 or VT30, period. They offer a great feature set.

I was in the same situation. I ended up getting a Panny ST30. I wasn't looking for 3D, but I think any new TV with really good PQ is going to have it. As stated, you don't have to use it.

I have that one and it rocks. Phenomenal quality picture, tons of picture tweaking options in the menus (if you're into that thing), and outrageously thin too. No need to spring for the D8000, IMO. save a few bucks and get the 7000. (or a panny VT25/30, if it happens to be cheaper at the time)

The D7000 isn't available in all countries, so some have no choice but to buy the D8000 .

Lol...ya reading that back I guess I kinda sound like a sales rep for them but I'm not. Being a shopaholic, anytime I get what I feel is a good deal I always make sure I provide as much info as I can that may help others. It's a habit I've picked up from being a member of RFD. If you hear me talk about my deals or see my posts on RFD, you would think I also work for BBB, Netflix, Costco among many others. :d

Yup. Can't get the 7000 in Canada. I'm kinda glad though otherwise I would have always wondered about if I should have got the 8000.

Still gotta wait until next week though before I get mine delivered...dammit!

I bought the samsung p51d530 for $799 at bestbuy. It's ONLY limit was having 2 hdmi, but if you are running thru a receiver you only need 1 anyway. Loved the set.

That said, I returned it a week later and bumped up to a samsung p59d550 for 1399. Came with 3d bluray player and two sets of glasses. More hdmi on this one, too. I'm keeping it!!

I didn't buy it for the 3d.....actually said I'd never sit at home and watch tv with glasses on. 7 years ago I had LASIK surgery and was thrill at the 20/15 eyesight I now have. No more glasses ever!

Then North Carolina played Michigan state on a Navy carrier last Friday night. And it was on ESPN 3d. AND IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!!! I wore glasses for more than two hours!

Back to the original point, the Sammy 51 inch had 1080p and was exactly what imwanted. Well, what I thought I wanted!
