I'd say go for the Samsung PN59D7000, or the 55/60GT30 if you are on a budget. If money is not a problem, go for the Panasonic VT30. |

I agree with gempulse. If you plan on calibration, then D7000/8000 or VT30, period. They offer a great feature set.

Ya. It really makes it a no brainer when they offer this. There is a minor catch that you should be aware of though. For 60" + The warranty costs $599/4 years. At the end if you haven't used it you need to call them and they will apply a $599 rebate to your account. The catch is that you have to spend double that to redeem it. The great thing is it doesn't have to be on a single item...just the total...it can also be combined with sale prices/price matches/boxing day prices etc, and for the 4 years you deal directly with the store and not Samsung. In any case, It should be very easy to find a laptop and/or a smaller TV for $1200. (If in 4 years we're still using them)

Lol...ya reading that back I guess I kinda sound like a sales rep for them but I'm not. Being a shopaholic, anytime I get what I feel is a good deal I always make sure I provide as much info as I can that may help others. It's a habit I've picked up from being a member of RFD. If you hear me talk about my deals or see my posts on RFD, you would think I also work for BBB, Netflix, Costco among many others. :d

I bought the samsung p51d530 for $799 at bestbuy. It's ONLY limit was having 2 hdmi, but if you are running thru a receiver you only need 1 anyway. Loved the set.
That said, I returned it a week later and bumped up to a samsung p59d550 for 1399. Came with 3d bluray player and two sets of glasses. More hdmi on this one, too. I'm keeping it!! I didn't buy it for the 3d.....actually said I'd never sit at home and watch tv with glasses on. 7 years ago I had LASIK surgery and was thrill at the 20/15 eyesight I now have. No more glasses ever! Then North Carolina played Michigan state on a Navy carrier last Friday night. And it was on ESPN 3d. AND IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!!! I wore glasses for more than two hours! Back to the original point, the Sammy 51 inch had 1080p and was exactly what imwanted. Well, what I thought I wanted! |
