Hello,
I installed Dish HD today (well the dish guy did but I was there to watch), and anyways the dish is working great, but somehow in the process of installation it did something to my broadcast channels (abc, cbs, etc.), and they no longer come in. At first, the tv had still memorized the numbers for the channels so it would go to them, but there was no signal and they were black. Then, I decided to program the tv again, and it went through the auto program but came back with 0 channels memorized and said "check signal cable." My initial thought was maybe my cable is effed up, but it was fine before so why would installing a dish mess it up. Does anyone have any ideas? thanks in advance, troubled tv watcher guy |

Obvious question but have you called the Dish company for support?
The only thing I can offer is make sure your line is going straight into the TV. I bet you will then see the broadcast channels. They gave you a box and that is where the TV signal is coming from now not the antenna. If I am waaaay off base forgive me, only trying to help you out. |

Clarify for me,
you had broadcast channels before trying to instal DISH HD? meaning you had the standard definition dish package, and upgraded to HD...and once you upgraded to HD the broadcast channels no longer work?? So the broadcast channels worked on HD while the instal guy was there, but once he left they no longer worked? (sorry but your post was a little confusing) |

1st, make sure the installer goon a) connected your antenna and b) connected it to the correct plug on the back of your reciever.
Next, make sure he/she did not install the attenuator thats meant for sending content to a 2nd TV with your actual antenna lead (my installer did this). |

I received broadcast channels free with my over the air antenna. My setup included that and standard definition dish network. Now I have high definition dish network, but when I switch channels to try and watch the broadcast channels they no longer come in. I DO NOT pay for local channels with dish network. I only receive them over the air. With that said, something must have happened during the course of the installation that changed the cable running from the antenna into my TV. I just don't know what. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know, and thanks again for the help.
