Default Denon Receiver

I know that this receiver is better than the one I have now. Upgrading to this will be pretty harmless for me. Is this denon worth it?

Thumbs up It's a good unit!

Denon is excellent quality in their internal amps and D/A converters.

I have the AVR-3805 (pre-HDMI) model and it is great except for the lack of HDMI and decoding of the new formats (D-THD and DTS-HDMA).

I don't see how you can go wrong with this one. If you're not set on buying from BB, check eBay. There is at least one good Denon dealer there and the prices are great w/ no sales tax and sometimes free shipping.

I'm planning to upgrade soon, but haven't made up my mind completely yet. I've been looking at the Pioneer Elite and Onkyo and Denon. Denon is the most expensive (for equivalent features and power) but I really trust them because of my experience with my current receiver.

Good luck in your purchase!

I will be buying from Best Buy, I get a discount that nobody can touch. I just made up my mind and will be getting this receiver tonight.

Denon makes a great product but unless I am missing something this receiver does not decode DTS HD MA. So if that is important to you might want to check something else.

It just looks like the Best Buy site needs to be updated with the current specs. Since I know Dennon puts MA after all there stuff that does it.

The AVR-2308CI isn't even on Denon's website... Best Buy's website says it does Dolby HD and the like, but Cnet says it doesn't...

That is a good Amp but you can get better for the money well comparing the prices in England you can the DENON AVR-2808 is £899.95 here you can get the Onkyo TX-SR805 which has 192kHz/24bit Burr Brown DACs (PCM1796) for all channels for £799.00 so you get better sound for less money and for a little bit more you could have the all singing all dancing Onkyo TX-SR875 £999.95 and get the fantastic for up scaling to 1080p HQV Reon chip by Teranex, which is also found in the Denon AVP-A1HD which will cost £4999.95 in the UK next year and Denon AVC-A1HD £3799.95 sorry don't know the US prices
