Default How To Destroy Angels

Anybody get their EP and anxiously awaiting the LP release? Mixing was supposed to wrap up over the weekend, and I've been refreshing Twitter with the fevah hoping for an update.

The EP I thought was interesting, but I wasn't crazy about it. Their cover of "Is Your Love Strong Enough?" from The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo has gotten me very excited about what's to come, though.

For those unaware, HTDA is Trent Reznor's project with his scoring partner Atticus Ross and wife Mariqueen Maandig. You can download the EP free from http://store.destroyangels.com/

Thanks, I just listened to A Drowning. I like the music a lot, not big on the female vocalist but maybe I'll warm up. Definitely sounds like good old NIN I wish it was Trent singing instead.

edit: Listened a little more last night. Yeah, I am not digging this girl at all. She is very monotone/emotionless. Put in Trent on A Drowning and you'd have something special IMO.

That was my assessment. Her vocals are MUCH better on the Dragon Tattoo track, though.

I like the EP, monotonous vocals and all. "Fur Lined" is probably my favorite track, since it's more upbeat and high-tempo; I like the others more for their creepy atmosphere.

I'm hoping the LP will be a little livlier, but even if it isn't, I hope it'll at least be solid.

I will have to check that out as well then. I only listened to the 6 that came for free on the link. I'll hit up youtube and itunes to check out the rest.

Isn't this sung by his wife? I'm pretty sure last time I checked. I remember Reznor saying years ago, how he wanted to produce a project where he wasn't the lead singer. This is one result.

I enjoy some of the faster paced songs. It's a bit more laid back musically, nothing heavy as with much of Nine Inch Nails, but still well done and has hints of NIN's style.

With this one completed, hopefully 2012 is the year Reznor/NIN will release a new album.

Yeah I actually stayed right to the end of the credits to find out who was performing it, had one of those "grinning to myself" moments when I read the name.

I'll definitely check out more.

He's said he's going to be writing material for NIN this year. Hopefully we'll actually see it this year. He's talking about doing some shows with HTDA, too. And yes, that's his wife.

I wish AiR would get their act in gear and release the 5.1 high rez version of The Fragile already. Alan Moulder was in the studio over 15 months ago working on this.

Need more 5.1 NIN, still smarting from the disappointment of no Pretty Hate Machine 5.1

Yeah, that and the Dragon Tattoo Blu-ray snub. Supposedly there's a story behind that, but Trent hasn't gone into detail.

I can't believe The Fragile is still pending. I was so excited when TR tweeted about mixing with Alan Moulder, and that was it.

I like the EP but it's not nearly as good as NIN or even Trent's other work. I'm still looking forward to the album.

And I really hope we get a special edition of The Fragile soon. It's my favorite NIN album.

Damn, FIVE MONTHS since the last post in this thread and its revival and still nothing about either project! I have a feeling HTDA is right around the corner though.
