Default I am working with RED.

I know the title is a bit misleading to those on a blu-ray forum... But I am working with RED. The camera that is.

This post is really for you tech geeks that want to know where high-Def is going.

The film I'm currently working on is shooting with the new (and ultra rare) RED camera (our serial number is 00019. We literally have 19 out of 60ish cameras made so far.)

It is an AMAZING machine. The specs are as follows:

Typical high-end HD camcorders have 2.1M pixel sensors and record with 3:1:1 color sub-sampled video at up to 30fps. We deliver 12M pixels at up to 60fps and record wide dynamic range and color space 12 bit native RAW. That’s more than 5 times the amount of information available every second and a vastly superior recording quality. Don’t need all that data for your workflow? Dial it back, and keep all the other advantages of the Mysterium ™ Super 35mm cine sized (24.4×13.7mm) sensor. You get the same breathtaking Depth of Field and selective focus as found in film cameras using equivalent 35mm P/L mount lenses. Mysterium ™ boasts greater than 66db Dynamic Range thanks to its large 29 sq. micron pixels. And 12,065,000 pixels deliver resolution that can only be called Ultra High Definition.

you can read more at www.red.com

and no this isn't spam, or a person working for RED. The film i'm working on is www.reddirtrising.com

You guys have got to check this camera out, and imagine where high deff will be one day. IT"S AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!

FYI GO BLU!!!!

On and for the non-tech geeks.

High Deff goes: DV, 720P, 1080P, 2K and 4K.

This camera is 4K, so everything we're seeing as far as High Def is a joke compared to this camera. I've seen the 4K feed to a 4K monotor. It's AMAZING!

I'm sorry to say but this has very little if nothing to do with Blu-Ray
Well, except that maybe some day we'll see your movie on that format hehe.

Oh and, out of curiosity, how much is a Red Cam + standard lens?

I just picked up a HD camcorder, but a bit less expensive then that Red one... but for my personal use, it does a great job. I also picked up a BD burner, so it kinda has something to do with BD.

:JEALOUS:

I sooo want to get into the film field. Right now I am hovering securely in single shot photography. It is nice to work with such beautiful images, but my dream is to work with the moving images... movies..

How can I get into that field!? I plan to take more classes and get a masters degree but I am still not sure if I should focus on directing, cinematography, or animation!
GAH!

For movies shot in 2K or 4K how many Giggs would it fill up with Loseless audio?, under the assumtion that 2k is almost twice and 4k is four time as much space used.
