Default Spider-man 3 sales with ps3 40g should count

Spider-man 3 blu-ray will be included with every 40g PS3 when it is released the the same week as Spider-Man 3 on trilogy. The average sales for PS3 are around 100,000 plus and those sales are expected to be between 250,000-400,000 when they are releases Novewmber 2nd. With that alone Spider-Man 3 should break Transformers records if the Spider-Man 3 included in the PS3 40 g is considered as a sale

If you are going to win, win cleanly.

Bundled sales should not count, at least for a moral victory.

Who cares about morales at this stage of the game? We have entered a stage in this war where both sides have run out of ammunition! It's time to strap the bayonetts onto the rifles and get gritty. It's a good thing our army is bigger in number!

EDIT: WHAT WAS I THINKING? Blu hasn't run out of ammunition! Red has! We still have plenty with 'Cars', 'Spiderman(s)', 'Close Encounters', 'Ratatouille', etc, etc, etc. My sincerest apologies for being...... well.... an idiot! LOL

By the way, Spiderman 3 bundled should, technically, still count. If I'm not mistaken, the "5 free Blu-ray with player purchase" promotion counted. And I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the HD DVDs bundled with certain player models counted in the numbers... so, effectively, we would just playing the game by the rules laid out by our rivals.

Default Morals?

I think morals left the building when Toshiba/Microsoft paid Paramount/DreamWorks $150 million to not release Transformers on Blu-ray.

Nope. Check your BOGO recipets, you'll see they all rang in at half-off specifically so they would count. The individual discs must be scanned, and the mail-ins do not count

No, bundled items never count and the "send away for" free movies don't count either. But as WickyWoo says, if the deal is one where you get a player and get to select separate videos which are scanned, I'm fairly certain that they would count.

Of course the more players that are sold because of low prices and bundled Spidermans, the more other Blu-ray videos will sell later. So bring those bundles on!!

I have to agree Paramount was bragging about their Transformers sales stats all because they got paid $150 million dollars to support HD-DVD. SO what in the heck is wrong if SONY counts every PS3 40g sold with Spider-Man 3? Thats a heck of a lot less drastic then being paid 150 million dollars and then bragging about how many copies it sold due to this exclusive deal.

Then King Kong in the XBOX360 add-on box should count.

Assuming you think they might be getting counted, I haven't seen numbers where it looked like they counted them. For instance, in looking at the sales figures for software compared to the number of XBOX360 add-ons that have sold (from data we have gotten from NPD and other sources). The Nielsen data that Sony published for software back in March clearly did not include either the copies of King Kong included with the XBOX360 add-on, or the copies of Talladega Nights included with PS3s (or the 5 free disc giveaways). Movies included in these boxes aren't counted and if they had been, some of those records that both sides bragged about would have been bogus, since TN would most likely be the highest selling title in the US (with ~500k of them included with PS3s).

Can you name anyplace where they were counted in their data (other than things like shipped discs, which should count them)?

No one in their right mind would count in box freebies. Thats not a sale for software. If you did, add 200k copies of King Kong to HD DVD, and 10's of thousands for the free in box 300 and bourne supremacy inside the 3rd gen HD players. No thanks.

I think that's the key. If it's already in the retail box and the barcode doesn't get scanned separately when the money changes hands, it doesn't count. Mail-in freebies also don't count because there is no payment when the movies are mailed out.

The PS3 + Resident Evil: Apocalypse (and Memento momentarily...ok ok that was lame ) deal Amazon had a while ago did count RE2, presumably because they were separate items when they were shipped from manufacturers and the ratailer combined them, scanning them both upon payment.

enjoy

I also think that Spider-man 3 sales in the Trilogy bundle should count as a SM3 sale as well... Anyone else feel the same?
