I don't understand all the hate on this movie. whats so bad about it? I liked the little homage to Bruce Lee in it. but I always think about this, If Brandon Lee was still alive he would have made a amazing Kato.

Well for one the story sucked they had the Green Lantern spend way too much time on Earth when he should have been on Oa to learn the ropes and whatnot and the villain sucked I could go on but I'm tired

I only saw part of it but I think it suffers from the same problem as a lot of older shows suffer from - they can't think of a serious story for the film version so they try and make it into a comedy. Think of 21 Jump Street - doesn't matter if you liked the movie or not, the series was not a comedy like the movie was. I think that is what happened here - they couldn't think of a serious storyline that they felt would work so they put in Seth Rogan and tried to play it as semi-serious which didn't exactly work. Because of things like Star Trek, Hollywood seems to think any old radio/television show can be made into a movie but some of them work best in that episodic format.

![]() seriously?? Out of the HUNDREDS of films that come out in a given year, how many are superhero films? 3? 4? 5? 6? Last edited by cinemaphile; 04-22-2013 at 04:00 PM. |

I like the occasional superhero flick (the Original Superman, Hellboy, Spiderman 2, etc.), but i speak for many that are generally baffled as to how these films are considered to be the tentpole/huge must see releases. Its fine, but fortunately, there are other options. |

...and Cameron Diaz. Already not a very good actress, but also about 10 years too old to be a convincing love interest for Seth Rogen.
I don't know why anyone keeps casting her in movies. Last edited by cinemaphile; 04-21-2013 at 10:07 AM. |

Not horrible but they change to much of the original traits of the characters for my liking. I was a huge fan of the show has a kid, Britt Reid was a serious newspaper man while with Rogen they turned him into a young, stupid, rich kid with no focus. The TV show look's cheesy today but it never was a comedy, it just was a product of it's time. Today they turn these stories into silly comedies which the original materials were not and that is why I usually don't like many of these movies made from old TV series, I Spy is another example. The Green Hornet would have been a good movie to be made back 15 years ago, into something a bit more solid and serious with George Clooney as Britt Reid and Jet Li as Kato. It would have been a much better movie.
