I don't understand all the hate on this movie. whats so bad about it? I liked the little homage to Bruce Lee in it. but I always think about this, If Brandon Lee was still alive he would have made a amazing Kato.

Well for one the story sucked they had the Green Lantern spend way too much time on Earth when he should have been on Oa to learn the ropes and whatnot and the villain sucked I could go on but I'm tired

...and Cameron Diaz. Already not a very good actress, but also about 10 years too old to be a convincing love interest for Seth Rogen.
I don't know why anyone keeps casting her in movies. Last edited by cinemaphile; 04-21-2013 at 10:07 AM. |

Not horrible but they change to much of the original traits of the characters for my liking. I was a huge fan of the show has a kid, Britt Reid was a serious newspaper man while with Rogen they turned him into a young, stupid, rich kid with no focus. The TV show look's cheesy today but it never was a comedy, it just was a product of it's time. Today they turn these stories into silly comedies which the original materials were not and that is why I usually don't like many of these movies made from old TV series, I Spy is another example. The Green Hornet would have been a good movie to be made back 15 years ago, into something a bit more solid and serious with George Clooney as Britt Reid and Jet Li as Kato. It would have been a much better movie.

The people who wanted it to be a Green Hornet movie were disappointed to find out that Seth Rogen had rather severely misinterpreted the rumors about it once being "a Kevin Smith project" (that would be the big-budget comic-book epic that studios kept wanting Kevin Smith to make), and thought it was intended to be that OTHER kind of "Kevin Smith film". While those who saw Michel Gondry's name on the director credit and did want it to be a goofy slacker Gondry piece--lord knows why--were disappointed that it went mainstream and wasn't enough of one. Basically, whenever you look at a flop and ask "what went wrong?", you have to take the cold scientific approach and apply the basic Flop Tests: 1) The Godzilla test: Was a recognizable pop-culture property treated with the most anti-intuitively wrong tone contrary to what the audience expected? 2) The Dune test: Was an unsuitably wrong director, with no experience in the genre, chosen for the material? 3) The Hudson Hawk test: Was a quirky indie director, known mostly for offbeat or idiosyncratic projects, chosen to take his cult popularity mainstream, and given free studio reign on a big-budget project intended for mass-market tastes? ...Only three out of seven, but those're usually the big ones, and more than two "Yes" answers is fatal. I don't hate anything because, hate is a strong word! I may dislike something or someone but, as far as The Green Hornet is concern, the movie was terrible. To me, it was way too silly, it was poorly acted, and the script was juvenile. The Green Hornet was just a hot mess!
