Lillyhammer, Netflix's first Original Series will finally arrive on Blu-ray on December 3rd.

Synopsis

Frank Tagliano (Steven Van Zandt), is a former New York mobster, who after testifying in a trial in the United States, joins the witness protection program. Intrigued by the place after watching the Winter Olympics in 1994, he is relocated to Lillehammer in Norway. The transition from being a feared and respected gangster in New York, to becoming an unemployed immigrant in Norway, is not simple. Frank soon discovers that in order to succeed in this rural Norwegian society, he must resort to his old ways.

I was glad to hear about this. Hopefully Netflix will rent this like they did House of Cards.

I've heard really good things about it, but it didn't seem to get much attention when it was released. I actually thought House of Cards was Netflix's first original series because of how big of a deal they made out of Netflix competing with television, etc...

Yeah this one kind of fell under the radar, I think there is a 2nd season done as well.

Huh, I just bought this (on Australian DVD) at a closing down Blockbusters. Thought the name sounded familiar (thus the purchase, for a whopping $6.50). Guess I can pass the DVD on if I like it enough to upgrade to a Blu.

In Norway it aired on Norwegian TV, and in the UK it aired on BBC Four. So while this is technically Netflix's first production, House of Cards was the first one solely by Netflix and also airing Solely on Netflix worldwide, unlike Lilyhammer.

The series was originally produced by Rubicon TV in co-operation with SevenOne International for NRK (the Norwegian national TV broadcasting company). Netflix didn't become a production partner until season 2.

I contacted Cinedigm a while back, inquiring about Season 2, and they finally got back to me today saying they don't have the rights to it. Anyone know who does?

I just bought this for £10.00 on Amazon. I watched the trailer and it looks really good, I never heard of this before and have never seen any advertising for it anywhere. I am a huge fan of The Sopranos and it looks like he is playing his character Silvio. Season 2 is coming out in the UK from Arrow so if I like it enough I will buy the next season.

He is not playing Silvio but it is a mob series so there are some similarities. This does have more comedy than Sopranos.

I didn't know Arrow was going to release S2. That's good news!

Yeah, I should stated he was playing a character (Frank) that is very similar to Silvio. Season 2 is out in a few weeks time, it's 16.xx on Amazon at the minute.

I almost half way through season 2 and I am really liking the show. Very funny. I am finding season 2 to better so far than the first season, it feels bigger budgeted.
