S2 is on Netflix for anyone interested. It'll probably be a long time before it gets a BD release here.

A friend at work recommended I give this series a shot. So I did last night. Watched 6 episodes back to back....guess I liked it. . I'm not sure yet if it holds enough appeal for me to buy it on Blu-ray, but I'll continue to watch and finish the first season and take it from there.

Wow, that's impressive!
I sure hope Netflix offers the BD for S2, like they did S1.

Hey - just finished watching the very first episode of Lilyhammer. Though I thought SVZ was great on The Sopranos, I wasn't sure he could carry a series - however, just based on the first episode, I look forward to watching the rest of this - well-done. There was a very distinct "fish out of water" element to the show; the idea of a East Coast gangster living in a small town in Norway seems somewhat off-putting at first, but it really worked well here - and, obviously the "fish out of water" element is the whole point of the show...

I've always been amused by SVZ's downcast frowning expression; you wonder if he has to work at this, or if it's his normal look

One of my favorite scenes was when Tagliano tried to
[Show spoiler]bribe the officious customs official in the beginning; the guy acted like he was going to call the authorities, and then Tagliano backed off. When he later black-mailed the official, the guy showed his true colors by also asking for "financial compensation" (which didn't fly that time); it was amusing that the official acted all high & mighty at first, but then when he figured he had to do something that wasn't exactly legal, he was alright with getting paid "under the table"

Here's my only gripe - as has been mentioned, the stream I watched had no subtitles. I don't understand or speak Norweigan, so was in the dark as to what they were saying for most of the show. It was also unclear whether Tagliano understood Norweigan; when the other characters spoke to him, it was in both Norweigan & English, and he typically responded in English. You saw him listening to a language tape on the train as he was going to the village, but I seriously doubt he was fluent in the language...

This all being said, I'm happy that the show is primarily in Norweigan (despite my not being able to understand this). There are too many TV shows/movies out there that show characters going to other countries & depict everyone speaking English fluently...which is bull%$#^.

Question

Since S3 will be broadcast on Nov 21, shouldn't we be getting a BD release date for S2 soon?

I contacted Cinedigm a while back, inquiring about Season 2, and they finally got back to me today saying they don't have the rights to it. Anyone know who does?

I just bought this for £10.00 on Amazon. I watched the trailer and it looks really good, I never heard of this before and have never seen any advertising for it anywhere. I am a huge fan of The Sopranos and it looks like he is playing his character Silvio. Season 2 is coming out in the UK from Arrow so if I like it enough I will buy the next season.

He is not playing Silvio but it is a mob series so there are some similarities. This does have more comedy than Sopranos.

I didn't know Arrow was going to release S2. That's good news!

Yeah, I should stated he was playing a character (Frank) that is very similar to Silvio. Season 2 is out in a few weeks time, it's 16.xx on Amazon at the minute.

I almost half way through season 2 and I am really liking the show. Very funny. I am finding season 2 to better so far than the first season, it feels bigger budgeted.
