Default Science-Fiction meets Fantasy?

Hey all, I want a movie or TV show where there is a completely logical character like Data from Star Trek who is trying to solve something that is the work of the supernatural or fantasy like vampires and demons.

I love the episode 'Genesis' from season 7 of TNG where Data encounters a very odd problem that seems impossible and then he uses his logical way of thinking to solve the problem.

Any recommendations???

There's a dash of that in From Dusk Till Dawn with Clooney's spew about, "I don't ****ing believe in vampires, but I believe in my own two eyes, and what I saw, is ****ing vampires. Now, do we all agree that what we are dealing with is vampires?" Then they go on about how to kill vampires from movies.

Event Horizon might be what you're looking for too. I don't want to go into any detail but you might want to check it out.

Doctor Who.

Though I wouldn't characterize the Doctor as "completely logical." There are episodes with all sorts of unexplainable phenomena.

Great film.

Thor: The Dark World recently had Natalie Portman's scientist lady figure out how to stop the almost-magic Dark Elves from destroying the universe.

There are a lot of Doctor Who stories where the Doctor uses science and logic to defeat seemingly magical problems. You should try that show out in general if you haven't. I would suggest modern Series 5 as a good starting point.

I would say the movie Knowing fits pretty well, though I personally didn't care for it all that much

The Ninth Gate is another movie where the protagonist tries to work through things logically to solve something that is seemingly supernatural.

The Ring, though a horror, does have a character trying to figure out a puzzle of sorts through logical thinking,, despite its supernatural nature.

Logan's Run TV series.

REM the andriod was the science/logic representation vs human emotion/phenomenon/magic/etc.

Sounds great, but the 70's a slight bit too old for me!

Check out the Hounds of Baskerville in Sherlock Holmes new UK show. Cumberbatch who plays Holmes uses logic and science to prove the Hounds weren't demons from hell. Or were they?

Another one would be Prince of Darkness by John Carpenter

Pagemaster! The kid is totally logical and then he gets sucked into an animated book

The One I Love - there's some supernatural stuff going on and the husband tries to deal with it from a completely logical perspective

Lost the TV show maybe?

Hey guys, I'm still in search of a character that's similar to Data in the sense that a machine who is heavily logical is trying to deal with a situation that is based in fantasy.

Many in my list aren't. However, they are extremely logical.
