It's in limited release. I saw it last night, another great PT movie. The PQ should be amazing as well on BD!

How is it out? I kept looking because I saw things saying Dec 12th but it is not listed anywhere. Then I found something that said it is going out next month. It is Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy all over again. Advertise a movie that doesn't come out until much later and then it ends up being more interesting in the trailers than the movie actually is.

As of Dec. 12th it's only playing in select theaters in New York and Los Angeles, but they recently did special advance screenings in various cities across the U.S. for peeps outside of NYC and LA (I considered driving 175 miles to the one closest to me). Opens wide everywhere on January 9th.

It was amazing! Every performance is great and SO FUNNY. It's probably PT's funniest movie and only straight-up comedy so far. It has been divisive among critics for being both overly plotted and not plotted enough. I really enjoyed it, as I enjoy all of PT Anderson's movies. This has such an energy to it that is somber and manic. I can't stop thinking about it. Can't wait to see it again.

Is this movie any good? I've always like Joaquin Phoenix, but i've heard mixed reviews on this one.

Definitely a rental for me. The trailer looks like a blast but every review mentions that the movie itself is much more melancholy and existential. I wish Anderson would make another Boogie Nights style movie.

Yeah it's definitely not as goofy and fast-paced as the trailer makes it out to be. If you're a PT Anderson fan it's definitely worth a watch (I personally love him and enjoyed this one), but it's probably safer to rent it than buy if you haven't seen it

Yep, pretty much. I'll be getting it day 1, as it's one of my all-time favorite films, but I highly recommend a rental for anyone who is considering a blind-buy. Please check it out, and go in with an open mind. It's a marvelous film.
