Seems odd that they would release one without the other. They were filmed back to back. Maybe they'll announce KSM in a day or two. I remember when I was a kid we used to get free posters from the local video store and I had this one on my wall for ages, even though the film was a horrible Indy rip-off. I remember later when Basic Instinct came out, I was like "Holy sh*t, it's that chick from Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold!"

Maybe MGM haven't got round to doing an HD master of the first yet? Which admittedly seems odd, since it gets the more TV play of the two.

Last night was Goofy Movie night - Hot Moves, Private Resort and Lost City of Gold. Ya'know what? It wasn't that bad. Oh sure, it was silly as hell and dumb as a sack of hammers, but it was still a good viewing time. The point of these movies is to be stupid and silly adventure movies
I'd say that the movie was inspired by Indiana Jones - and the movie is a shamless cash in to grab some of that money - but really this is more like one of the original Dark Continent jungle movies that Hollywood churned out in the 40's and 50's. The effects are occasionally good (some of the matte work) and some are ropey as hell (the miniature work), but the acting is fine (even if Henry Silva is constantly chewing every piece of scenery within arms reach) and the story is fun enough. |
