What's the verdict on Koch's Lost City of Gold, any improvement over the Olive one?

It also sounds better. Koch's Blu is also stereo -- Olive's Blu is mono (though labeled as 2.0 stereo, it's not).

I'm going to have a look myself soon enough since I ordered a bunch of titles, including both Quatermain movies, from Germany (and taking advantage of their offer of free shipping to Sweden) which just arrived today.

Is this blu already OOP. Amazon doesn't sell it anymore and only 3rd party sellers have it. Checked a couple other places and all backordered.

Olive has it available at their website, so maybe there was just a run on them due to King Solomon's Mines being released.

Last night was Goofy Movie night - Hot Moves, Private Resort and Lost City of Gold. Ya'know what? It wasn't that bad. Oh sure, it was silly as hell and dumb as a sack of hammers, but it was still a good viewing time. The point of these movies is to be stupid and silly adventure movies

I'd say that the movie was inspired by Indiana Jones - and the movie is a shamless cash in to grab some of that money - but really this is more like one of the original Dark Continent jungle movies that Hollywood churned out in the 40's and 50's. The effects are occasionally good (some of the matte work) and some are ropey as hell (the miniature work), but the acting is fine (even if Henry Silva is constantly chewing every piece of scenery within arms reach) and the story is fun enough.

Very odd that the only store that has it in stock is Olive's store.

It's been discussed in many threads already that Olive has some big distribution hiccup with Amazon (especially) and therefore many of, if not all, of their in-print titles aren't showing up as available any longer, but they are trying to fix that. Not sure about other merchant sites, but maybe this is turning into an even more giant hiccup. Could be their own distribution company causing all the issues. The only Olive Blu I know of that is truly OOP is "TICKS".

Anyone paying OOP prices for anything else by Olive is just throwing money away.

Was listening to a podcast about this and there was a mention of the deleted climax. The film has some action sequence with Quatermain riding an elevated cable car using a whip. It's in a trailer on Youtube.
I have a theory that they went back and reedited, with possible reshoots and deleted those scenes as they were too close to Indy for the lawyers. This also might explain the extra $500,000 in the budget as KSM was $13 million and this was $13.5 million.
It's hard to dig up info about these films as they aren't held in high regard by many.

Anyone think my theory might be decent or should I shut up and go home?

This movie was nothing but a ripoff from Raiders of the Lost Ark.
