Where is that article which says how well BD is doing in Japan? I've seen some figure quoted as around 17%, that BD has 17% of the movie market over there. Thanks!

Are you talking about overall home-media market share or high-definition market share?

They may have 17% overall sales in the overall movie market, but they have a 95% market share in the high def movie market.

i think it's overall market share. it's rising, with top 20 amazon jp being nearly all bd, sometimes with several dvds and cds, and one hd dvd

The number 17% comes from 17% of the recorder market in Japan (HD-DVD has 3%). This is not bad at all because the recorder market in Japan is big but it does not translates to 17% of the DVD-market.

Blu-ray have about 95% of the HighDef market for movies but how big the HighDef market is to the total market is another thing.
