Default HDMI issue with my Sony BDP-S301

I'm currently facing a HDMI issue on my BDP-S301 that was created with version 3.20 of the firmware, and still exists on version 3.30.

What is happening is between one and 3 times during a movie the video will blink black for a second with a loss of audio, come back for 2 to 3 seconds with audio, blink black again for a second with no audio, then come back with no audio that does not come back. To get audio back I either need to turn of my tv, and turn it back, or unplug the HDMI cable and plug it back in.

I have called sony support, they blame the TV is the comparability issue.
I called sharp (My TV Manufacture) about the issue, and they tell me that this TV does not have any firmware updates, nor is capable of being upgraded. And it's sony who has to fix the issue with their firmware.

Just for laughs I tried reporting the tv model number and the hdmi issue to the only chat support at sony's site, and got a canned answer of "Sounds like you player needs service, would you like me to send you a link to where you can find the nearest service center".

Has anyone here experienced a similar problem, or have any suggests as to what I can do to resolve this issue? Thank you=)

Unhappy

Hi, I have a BDP-S300, and a Sharp TV. One thing I have noticed since I have had the player is that during the film the player will either lock up, i.e. freeze or the brightness of the screen will flash. Now I know this isn't a problem with the TV, it works fine with other inputs and with other player so it must be the Sony. I called Sony and they just didn't want to know, even suggesting that I should have bought the more expensive model, as far as they were concerned it is the TV.

I'm with you all the way on this, I think that the Sony is to fault.

Default firmware updates are a must for all tv dvds

your tv is just like a computer it needs firmware updates when available. if your tv has no way of updating then your tv is probably and older than 5 years
