Psycho II (1983) [Blu-Ray]
In Richard Franklin's 'Psycho 2' (1983), ex-motel owner Norman Bates (Perkins reprising the role) has spent most of his adult life in a secure prison, following the murders he committed some 20 years before. Judged sane by a psychiatric report, Norman is released and returns to his gothic family home. However, when he takes in a young, female lodger, the old demons seem about to resurface.

Psycho III (1986) [Blu-Ray]
'Psycho 3' (1986) was directed by Perkins. A runaway nun seeks refuge at the Bates Motel, where Norman (Perkins) is still in charge. Unfortunately for her, she has the same initials as Marion Crane, the woman he stabbed to death in the original film, and she triggers off some shower-related memories in him. A fledgling love affair begins between the two, but his demanding 'mother' is not happy with her son's choice of partner and is determined to exert her parental influence.

Psycho IV (1990) [Blu-Ray]
'Psycho 4' (1990) sees Joseph Stefano, the screenwriter of the original 'Psycho', return to script this instalment. Perkins again revives Norman Bates, apparently completely reformed and happily married to a psychologist. However, a phone-in show on matricide stirs up all his old problems and he embarks on another stalk and slash crusade.

Gus van Sant's controversial remake of Alfred Hitchcock's classic thriller is an almost shot-for-shot replica of the original. Eager to leave her old life behind, Marion Crane (Anne Heche) steals a large amount of money from her boss and takes to to the road. As night falls, and after having driven all day, the combination of rain, tiredness and regret causes her to stop at a roadside motel and take a room for the night. She then briefly shares some food with the motel manager, Norman Bates (Vince Vaughn), before going to her room to relax and take a shower...

Bates Motel (1987) [DVD]

Just saw Psycho for the first time. It holds up very well considering it's age. Are the sequels worth watching?

II is extremely good, an excellent thriller in its own right, bolstered by great direction and cinematography. Hitchcock would approve. 8/10

III is watchable, but pales in comparison to the original. Perkins directed it, and he kinda didn't know what he was doing. 5/10

IV is decent, it plays out like a companion piece to the original, and it brings Norman's story full circle. Benefits from a Joseph Stefano script (he wrote Hitchcock's film). But still, it's not the original Psycho. 6/10

Remake... Don't bother.

So I assume the single releases are from the same company and will be the same discs as in the collection. They are region free right (despite the back of the box saying Region B)? I want to pre-order but don't want to get a disc I can't watch.

Yes, Via Vision is also distributing the individual releases. They will be the exact same discs, so they will almost certainly be Region Free.

I assume that since Via Vision only obtains the physical media rights for Australia, they're obliged to create a Region B disc, but they're smart enough to realise the international interest sets like this and the Harryhausen box will create, so they've secretly made them Region Free whilst putting the B symbol on the back. Good on them, I say.

as it is an Australian release, I doubt there will be a regular release up at Amazon for sale. You may have a third party seller trying to sell it but I'd assume at an inflated price

The listing for the single release of Psycho (1998) has the right cover art but it's listed as (1960) and has the description of the original.
