Default Kuro owners & Oled 4Ks

Has any Kuro owner made the move to Oled? I'm flirting with the idea and was wondering if any Kuro owner has had any experience with the LG 55 4K Oled (flat panel). I believe the model is LG 55EF9500.

That is exactly what PDP folks migrate to. Once you are spoiled by a premium PDP you can't get a better upgrade than the EF9500.

Motion resolution is better on PDP, but contrast and the overall pq, design and 4K HDR, WCG, 10-bit panel make this a very nice upgrade.

Actually yes, we offer 1 year interest free financing. So we can arrange to lend you $5k for one year with no interest or fees of any kind.

When you consider Samsung's curved 65" JS9500 for $4,200, which is an excellent TV, but IMO and that of every professional TV reviewer, does not deliver the same overall picture quality, LG's 4K OLED begins to make sense and you can appreciate the value and performance that only OLED can deliver.

I'll have to bookmark this thread for future use. My kuro has developed a green line that runs half way up the screen. From my best searching it appears to be an issue that can't be fixed. I'm still using it because I've been unable to find another panel that matches everything I love about it. Motion blur is a huge issue for me as I seem to be more sensitive towards it than anything else. I'll have to check out the LG OLED and see how it compares.

If your home theater room or other room can handle a 3 chip DLP projector you might want to consider that. With the launch of 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray discs this year, some consumers in 2016, 2017, or 2018 are going to get a high end 4K projector or 4K OLED flat panel. I also like the natural organic look of DLP projectors and plasma flat panels. No one makes a 4K plasma, so OLED is the new king of flat panels.

Thanks Robert! However I'm still enjoying my VT60 that I bought from you in 2013 that I JUST paid off a few months ago. I see no need to upgrade until that set gives up the ghost. By then I'm sure the OLED technology will be better and even more affordable.

I plan on also going either with a high-end 4K projector or 4K OLED flat panel sometime in the future. Once the 4K Blu-ray format is released in 2016 and when I see around 100 native 4K Blu-ray movies to choose from, then I will be very interested in upgrading. I hope that OLED motion resolution will improve over the years.

Nope.

Have my Kuro in storage as a backup.

But I migrated to a Panny ZT.

Hoping I can get 5 years out of it at which point I'll examine the current state of technology at that point.

My guess is it'll still be dominated by LED based garbage.

I don't have a Kuro but I have a VT60. I'll get one when they have a 75" 4k Oled for $4k or so. Hopefully in 2 years there will be more options.

Actually the latest firmware update improved motion resolution and video processing. Also shutting off "True Motion" in the advanced picture menu greatly improves motion resolution.

OLED has very fast pixel switching so considering the new firmware upgrade and getting the TV set-up properly will give you very good motion resolution performance.

It is nice to have an option to turn off frame interpolation so that a natural repeating frame rate method can be used instead. It's good to see LG making improvements with OLED, they are currently the highest quality flat panel manufactory on the market. That could change when more manufactories start releasing OLED models.

Thanks HDTV 1080P.

It's not accuracy frame interpolation, I do not know enough about the process LG employed, but it works and you can control it to produce the look you like and reduce motion blur for any content.

I'm also anxious to see other manufacturers bring OLED panel technology to the market, but with LG having the guts and foresight to buy the patterns from Eastman Kodak other manufacturers will have to buy the OLED panels from LG Display, license the technology and build WRGB OLED panel manufacturing factories or if it's possible develop a competing OLED panel that does not violate LG patterns.

Sorry for the run on sentence, but I had a lot of things to say that worked best in one sentence.

No, and I don't plan to and really haven't even researched tv tech since I bought mine. I still feel I have an awsome set that crushes anything I see in the wild by just the eyeball test (natural colors, blacks, off angle viewing).

Projectors have perked my interest if I can find one at the right price that also fits my room.

I'm not one that lives on the bleeding edge of technology though, and will upgrade when price and desired options fall in line. I don't see that happening for several years out though, and when it does it will most likely be spurred on by a component failure which will be a sad day.

The Kuro still have better blacks than many of the 4K LED TV's I see on display with dark blues instead of blacks. The 4K LED are just abysmal when it comes to black.

In do time all technology works itself out. Plasmas were not always perfect and they got there with the Kuro's, and Panny's but those still had issues. The OLED technology is pretty amazing and when you incorporate HDR or Dolby Vision into the OLED it may be the Best television is the Kuro's.

I love my Kuro, but when it goes and it will. I'm 1000% behind OLED technology. OLED from LG is just something Amazing!

Plasma was bad for 8 years until the G7 Kuro came out around 2007.

I still love my Kuro. I use it almost every day! I wish it was a larger screen though.

I am moving into a new home with a set home theater in the next year. I will be making a new purchase.

My friends recently got a nice Epson projector and although it is beautiful it just doesn't seem practical to me.

I want 4k and the best picture possible. I guess a large screen is also very important. I am thinking 75"+ a requirement.

At this point I can't decide... sigh.
