That is exactly what PDP folks migrate to. Once you are spoiled by a premium PDP you can't get a better upgrade than the EF9500.
Motion resolution is better on PDP, but contrast and the overall pq, design and 4K HDR, WCG, 10-bit panel make this a very nice upgrade. -Robert |

Once any of my plasma die...I'm going OLED.

I plan on also going either with a high-end 4K projector or 4K OLED flat panel sometime in the future. Once the 4K Blu-ray format is released in 2016 and when I see around 100 native 4K Blu-ray movies to choose from, then I will be very interested in upgrading. I hope that OLED motion resolution will improve over the years.

Nope.
Have my Kuro in storage as a backup. But I migrated to a Panny ZT. Hoping I can get 5 years out of it at which point I'll examine the current state of technology at that point. My guess is it'll still be dominated by LED based garbage. |

OLED has very fast pixel switching so considering the new firmware upgrade and getting the TV set-up properly will give you very good motion resolution performance. -Robert |

It is nice to have an option to turn off frame interpolation so that a natural repeating frame rate method can be used instead. It's good to see LG making improvements with OLED, they are currently the highest quality flat panel manufactory on the market. That could change when more manufactories start releasing OLED models.

Thanks HDTV 1080P.
It's not accuracy frame interpolation, I do not know enough about the process LG employed, but it works and you can control it to produce the look you like and reduce motion blur for any content. I'm also anxious to see other manufacturers bring OLED panel technology to the market, but with LG having the guts and foresight to buy the patterns from Eastman Kodak other manufacturers will have to buy the OLED panels from LG Display, license the technology and build WRGB OLED panel manufacturing factories or if it's possible develop a competing OLED panel that does not violate LG patterns. Sorry for the run on sentence, but I had a lot of things to say that worked best in one sentence. ![]() -Robert Last edited by Robert Zohn; 12-23-2015 at 11:16 PM. |

Yes...have a 50" Kuro which is still going strong after 7 years, but replaced it in my home theater with the LG 65EF9500. There was no way in hell I was going to go with anything BUT an OLED (although I did briefly consider a projection setup, which was the only other option I would even think of) and would have stuck with the Kuro until it exploded if my only choice was LED. Anyway, I love the new set as much as I did the Kuro, which was considerable. I thought the black level on the Kuro could never be topped, but OLEDs excel at that in particular. My only concern going with OLED was the burn-in factor, which is always mentioned whenever reading an article about the technology. BUT, I had the same concerns when I bought the Kuro and, considering the fact that I wasn't idiot enough to play video games on it or leave a static picture on the screen for a prolonged period, I never had a single issue and don't expect to have one with the OLED either.

OLED is not there yet imo. We need more manufactures making them. Not a fan of WOLED either, i prefer true RGB.
The only thing the LG OLED really does better than the kuro is absolute black. But shadow detail is still better on the last best plasmas (Pioneer, Samsung, Panasonic). Motion is similar to LCD too. There are other issues like uniformity which is not as good. I also don't like the LCD look it has, the kuro has a more organic film-like texture. I won't be buying any OLED display until all the other manufactures are making them and there's one that does everything better than the kuro, not just a few things. OLED still has room for improvement. Nice to see you again by the way, wafi! |

Some people are still waiting for 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray discs to arrive. Then 4K OLED and 4K projectors will become more interesting. Of course some people want a new display now. Everyone decides their own timeline when it comes to upgrading.

Reviews don't dictate what i like, and they definitely don't mask the inferiority of the LG with things like uniformity and motion, things i easily notice and are sensitive to. It can't be the best overall when it still isn't doing things better than the best plasmas. It makes no sense TO ME to replace my main viewing display with something that's still does a few PQ aspects worse. It also doesn't make any sense TO ME to buy a new technology, that clearly needs to be improved, with one manufacture producing them. No way. There's no need to get personal with that silly comment you made. |

But yeah, i love the analog CRT look and smoothness of the kuro. Something the LG OLED completely lacks. |

Projectors have perked my interest if I can find one at the right price that also fits my room. I'm not one that lives on the bleeding edge of technology though, and will upgrade when price and desired options fall in line. I don't see that happening for several years out though, and when it does it will most likely be spurred on by a component failure which will be a sad day. |

The Kuro still have better blacks than many of the 4K LED TV's I see on display with dark blues instead of blacks. The 4K LED are just abysmal when it comes to black.

![]() I own an Elite 111FD (9G) and I'll still put it up against the majority of new displays. The OLEDs are getting a lot closer with black levels, but I still think that plasmas do it a bit better, with a lot less crush. I watch a lot of films on BD and streaming and I still think that my plasma does a better job with edge enhancement (none) and colors look a lot more natural and vivid (when appropriate). My one stuck pixel is finally on it's way out and only shows up for 30 seconds, when the TV is warming up. I only watch it on the weekends, so even though it's 6 years old, it's only getting less than 20 hours a week. Hey...I want it to last as long as possible, especially since my extended service cut out a year or so, ago. ![]() Plasmas are very unique and it's a shame that the technology is a thing of the past...but if vinyl can make a resurgence, ya never know if plasmas might show up again in the not too distant future. Enjoy! |
