I don't know about you guys...but does it seems ridiculous the amount of movies comming out on certain days?
It seems like it's feast or famin. one week it's like there is nothing, or one to two movies, then you have like this week sept26 where theres like 11 theres weeks in november where there is 8 and 10 movies released on one day, then the oppossing weeks have 2 & 3 example: October 30, 2006 • Mission: Impossible III (Paramount) • Mission: Impossible - Ultimate Missions Collection (Paramount)** November 7, 2006 • Little Man (Sony)** • Reds (Paramount) November 14, 2006 • Behind Enemy Lines (Fox)** • Black Hawk Down (Sony)** • Fantastic Four (Fox)** • Kingdom of Heaven: The Director's Cut (Fox)** • Kiss of the Dragon (Fox)** • Layer Cake (Sony) • The League of Extraordinary Gentleman (Fox) • The Omen (2006) (Fox) • Speed (Fox) • The Transporter (Fox) November 21, 2006 • Annapolis (Buena Vista)** • Casanova (Buena Vista) • Enemy of the State (Buena Vista)** • Flightplan (Buena Vista)** • Goal! The Dream Begins (Buena Vista) • Ice Age: The Meltdown (Fox)** • Sky High (Buena Vista) • The Wild (Buena Vista)** November 28, 2006 • Superman Returns (Warner)** • The Usual Suspects (Fox)** • Windtalkers (Fox)** note: ** by the movies i'm buying those days. this isn't even including the HDDVD's I want. I just wish they could spread it out a little more, because I am trying to buy all the better films....but there seems to be too much good stuff all comming out at once! and I can't even believe i'm complaining about this! THIS IS WONDERFUL!!! "These are great days we're living, bros. We are jolly green giants, walking the Earth with Blu Ray players! These movies we wasted money on here today are the finest releases we will ever know. After we rotate back to the world, we're gonna miss not having any HDDVD around that's worth watching." the real FullMetalJacket Quote: These are great days we're living, bros. We are jolly green giants, walking the Earth with guns. These gooks we wasted here today are the finest human beings we will ever know. After we rotate back to the world, we're gonna miss not having anyone around that's worth shooting. Last edited by BTBuck1; 09-26-2006 at 04:32 PM. |

Yes, but remember: You don't HAVE to buy EVERY disc that comes out.
![]() Just buy actual good movies and you might be surprised how much smaller and less daunting these lists become. I know it's in HD, and that makes it hard, but just because it's in HD doesn't mean it's good or worth purchasing. YMMV |

Movies I normally wouldn't like I'm finding I enjoy now...because of the picture and sound i'm really drawn in.
Case in point: TROY & AEON FLUX I passed on those two easily on DVD... Glad I waited as they are two of my favorite HDDVD titles I own now. |

And yet they're both terrible films. They just happen to look and sound real good. ![]() |

there's still alot of movies to be released, especially foreign classics that often get forgotten about until Criterion digs them up. notice how 'Kiss Of The Dragon' gets remastered but not 'Fist Of Legend', 'Shaolin Temple', 'Once Upon A Time In China', et cetera.

I love the position that I'm in... I just started really collecting movies a few months ago... I was buying DVDs up left and right, and then I realized that I was really going to dive into Blu-ray, so I sold/traded in pretty much all of my DVDs. Already with 35 BD movies on the shelf, I have eclipsed my current DVD collection and by the end of the year, I will have passed or come close to the number of DVDs I previously owned.
I'm glad that unlike many of you guys who have over hundreds or thousands of DVDs I started late in the game. Some people ask why are you buying that movie on BD? The answer is I never saw it/ owned it on DVD. Many of my first experiences with movies that you all love or that are considered classics, are in HD with lossless audio. What better way to experience a "classic"? I love being a movie collector. I love having the disc in hand or feeling excited because class is out and now I can go to BB and purchase the Tuesday new releases. I can't wait until I have a great job and a house of my own where I can get some great quality equipment to entertain myself and others. |
