Warner Bros The Ballad of Cable Hogue (1970)

Quote:
Coming, June 2017!
THE BALLAD OF CABLE HOGUE (1970)
NEW 2017 1080p HD REMASTER
BD50
COLOR - 121 Minutes
ORIGINAL ASPECT RATIO - 1.78:1, 16 X 9 FULL FRAME
DTS HD-Master English 2.0 Mono
English SDH

Commentary by Nick Redman, Paul Seydor, Garner Simmons and David Weddle
Featurette "The Ladiest Damn’d Lady: An Afternoon with Stella Stevens"
Theatrical Trailer (HD)

It’s 1908. The West has changed. Grizzled frontiersman Cable Hogue (Jason Robards) hasn’t. Despite the fortune he’s made selling water to thirsty desert travelers, he lies in wait. Someday two no-account desert rats – who long ago robbed Hogue and left him to die in the baking Arizona sand – will drop by for a drink.

After the violence of The Wild Bunch, director Sam Peckinpah shifted moods with this memorable fable, less a tale of revenge than it is a lyrical, touching tribute to the last days of the West’s pioneering spirit. Stella Stevens and David Warner lead an excellent supporting cast that also includes L.Q. Jones and Strother Martin as Hogue’s old enemies.

Great news! Ride The High Country, Ballad Of Cable Hogue...shouldn't be long before Pat Garrett And Billy The Kid makes it to blu.

And if Warner's would like to issue The Wild Bunch in 4K that would suit me fine!

Yeah, great news! I know some folks have problems with Wild Bunch, but I'm largely pleased with. Will be happy to retire this and Pat Garrett on dvd.

Always down for more Peckinpah. Wish they'd move through the film noir sets at this same pace.

Great news. A very weird Western that gets better every time I see it.

One of my favorite Peckinpahs. Great oddball western with an amazing performance from Robards.

What are the chances we get a mini-Peck boxset from Warner Archive?

I'd think very, very small. Warner don't seem to go in for box sets these days. The Peckinpah release I'd like the most would be a new re-master of The Wild Bunch. If Warner can do it for Unforgiven, they should certainly be able to do it for this classic.

My second favourite Peckinpah (after Alfredo Garcia) comes to blu ray

I'll be crying with joy when I get this, and then I'll shed a tear of sadness as I always do when I watch the film.

I'd also like to see the Peckinpah associated Will Penny with Charlton Heston get a BD release.

Peckinpah is a talent to be sure, but I wish more of his movies were as fun as this one.

I just shelled out for the current release. If WB announces a remaster, you can thank me.

The Wild Bunch is the first film I bought on blu-ray, and had it months before actually buying my own player.

This was a DVD I've been putting off for a long time. Looks like I held out long enough lol. I'm surprised by this release!

My favourite thing about Warner Archive is that they announce a title, then release that mofo a couple of weeks later. Bam!
