What do you guys think? do you think the bda when it goes to gives its conference should basically say, it was a good game, its over, lets do what is best for the consumer and agree on one format, blu-ray. don't look like a fool and die a slow death as retailers and consumers suffocate your format. just say, hey, we decided that one format was best and here it is folks.
its kind of like the whole thing when somebody gets fired, the company will let them "resign" instead to save face, if you do think the bda does this, what do you think HD DVD's reactin will be. |

To some I say yes David Vaughn has tried to make peace and now endorses blu. But to the others "not a chance in hell" this is the time to kick them when they are down and mock them for being cheap and making not only the wrong choice but the stupid one.

No. HD-DVD companies and supporters have been unbearably smug and obnoxious. They are the ones who consistently defied logic and common sense to suit their alternate reality. I say let them awaken with smelling salts or a cold splash of water.

I do not care what the HD DVD camp has done in the past. As far as the companies go, they should get all the help they can to join Blu-ray.
Personally I will not forgive individuals (like the Universal CEO) without an apology. However this war should not be about HD DVD and Blu-ray. DVD is now the biggest obstacle from a successful HD format. All studios and companies ned to JOIN or DIE! Only one format can win, and that IS Blu-ray, and we need everyone under it! Forget the past people. We need to beat out the confusion about HD, we need to bring more ppl into HDM, we need to convince people DVDs are "good enough". The only way is to be united to begin with. So far we have failed at this, but this year could be the year that HDM will FINALLY be able to fight back at DVD! |

It's too early for that. For now the BDA's mission should be to shovel as much dirt on HD-DVD's grave as possible and to do it as quickly as possible. Only after a complete, total, and crushing victory should any serious reconcilliation be discussed ... if indeed there's anything to discuss at all.

Should they? I think that is a given no matter how we vote. People are missing the point. HD movies on optical disc is not a foregone conclusion, even with a single format. The whole industry needs to get behind it so that a smooth transition can be completed from DVD to BR quickly. HDM on optical disc will last for only a short period of time (10-15 years at most) before online infrastructure catches up. To entice Toshiba away from it's DVD cash cow, the BDA will need to make concessions. Toshiba can still make it ugly for BR.
Edit: CptGreedle posted while I was writing. He's got the point!!!! |

i also have to admit i was an xbox fanboy last gen. i thought it was vastly supeior to the ps2, so there is a little special place for ms in my heart. i have really grown disgusted with them lately, but new men in charge (bye bye amir) can mean a new change in the way things are handled. god knows if we did not forgive or forget for companies wrongdoings, we'd all be hypocrits or sony haters on this forum. |

Yes, I been told the new xbox are significantly better than the originals but I wouldn't put it past them to make a flawed blu-addon and blame it on the BDA and then push his real agenda DD. Sorry but I rather deal with Satan than deal with Microcrap, at least with Satan there is no hidden agenda |

As a NOW former HDDVD buyer I would have to say no. It's painful enough that I have 14 HDDVD movies knowing they are soon going to be obsolete; but then for them to extend it...not worth it! Blu all the way now. |

They're talking about "extending the olive branch" to some/all of the HD DVD companies, which means making peace with them and bringing them into the BD family as new BD supporters, not extending the life of HD DVD.
