Default Blu-ray on component PS3 in HD ?

It's just a question, but I was using my PS3 as a blu-ray player with HDMI cable with a DVI/HDMI adaptor, but my DVI card broke in my TV, so until it get repaired, I have to plug my PS3 via component cable... But I was surprised to see that the quality of the picture was still really good !

In fact, I was just watching Sunshine and tried to look at the PIP extras alone (so in full screen instead of in a little square during the movie) and those videos got the PS3 to output 480 (I can see it by pressing the PS button, the menu appears bigger and fuzzier) while when I went back to the movie, the output resolution went back to 1080i... Does that mean that my movie is still in HD even if I don't use HDMI ?

You don't get 1080P out of DVI anyway do you? It is probably the same PQ.

My TV is 1080i anyway

So it means that even in component, I'm watching my movies in HD ? Even if Sony said that it needed HDCP to enable it ?
