I see that we have Criterion and MoC both with their own edition of this fantastic classic. Which one is superior from a A/V standpoint?
I am looking for the best version possible to watch on 100" with surround sound, but also to be able to watch on 55" 4K Oled panel with surround sound. |

They're different releases from different companies in different economies. How is a price discrepancy strange? 90% of MOC's titles end up less than ten pounds on Amazon UK eventually. Criterion titles have never gotten lower than $14.95 on Amazon US, and that's a mere handful of titles.
Most of Arrow's simultaneous UK/USA releases are cheaper in the UK as well, even after postage costs to the US. I've never bought an Arrow US release if there's a UK release as well. |

It's not bad, but it looks like a pretty strong DVD-era HD master to me (which is probably what it is). Grain and details aren't well resolved and there's considerable edge enhancement throughout. I'm sure most find this transfer pretty solid and it was well reviewed, but you'll see what I mean when the 4K remaster comes out.
