Default Pioneer Blu-Ray player - Too expensive for what you get?

This was (is) my top choice for a player. I am not interested in it because of the name, the expensive price but the media playback capability. I like the ability to playback my DVD collection via the network. The interface looks pretty good from what I have seen so far (though it appears to lack DVD coverart etc.)

People seem more concerned with advanced audio playback then they did with a feature such as network media playback etc.

Buy it.

Let's be honest people paid $1500 for Pioneer Elite Universal Players and loved them. The Pioneer is the only unit shipping this year with support for Networking which will tie into BD-Live and offer future update able content. It's certainly worth $200 more than the panasonic unit IMO.

The Pioneer will not allow you to connect with the Internet, and thus no BD-Live.

I'm not really that concerned with internet connectivity and BD-Live features. I just want to be able to get access to my library of DVDs and songs etc.

I say, "go for it!"
You can't go wrong with Pioneer Elite.
Once I had their DV-09 Reference DVD/CD player (seven or eight years ago), and for it's time, the progressive scan performance was gorgeous! The sound was spectacular (especially it's DTS).
Right now, I own a Pio Elite A/V receiver which is a great sounding component.
This first Blu-Ray player from Pio Elite sounds like (and looks like) it's going to be an instant classic for hardcore videophiles/audiophiles.
