Anyone heard of this? Looks like a 3-D sci-fi/fantasy movie from India.
AMC theatre near me is showing it in 3-D only. No flat showings at all. Might be kind of silly but with lots of fun, in your face 3-D gags. Sorry, I couldn't get the link to the YouTube trailer to work. If one of our trailer gurus (Creed, RickStar, Zivhour) has a minute to post the trailer, it would greatly be appreciated. ![]() |

Thanks for the link. Without subtitles there was no way knowing how good the jokes were accompanying the clips. But it looks like it was made for 3.D and got great viewer rating on imdb. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5080556/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 Hope it comes out on Blu-ray 3D. |

the movie is breaking records on its first day
first day is the biggest box office collection for an indian movie after baahubali 2 (also a south indian movie, not bollywood) |

If South Indian films never even make it to Blu-ray then an English-friendly 3D Blu-ray is pretty unlikely.
It makes me sad that there are so many Indian 3D movies (be that Bollywood or South Indian) that I'll never see. I'd buy this and Lisaa on 3D Blu-ray without question. |

kind of like what happened for the latest detective dee movie for example would be sad if a 3D movie like this would be impossible to see at home, it seems to be shot natively in 3D too |

Quick Review:
I saw an early matinee screening of 2.0 today. The 3D is just FANTASTIC! Unlike mainstream Hollywood, these Indian film makers really push the 3D. Every scene, and I mean EVERY SCENE, 3D was always kept in mind and used in wonderful artistic fashion. Lots of pop outs, elements constantly being pushed beyond the screen. Excellent choreography which allowed for deep depth. Looked to me like most of it was native 3D. Some things were converted as DNEG was in the credits. The movie itself is fine as far as fantasy Indian films go. A fantasy/action, very high tech movie. Some good comic relief here and there and some intellectual discussion on society's dependence on cell phones. Yes, there is a song/dance number but only as the end credits are rolling. Yes, there were English subtitles. |

Blu-ray Grand Duke

Helpful review of the 3D, thanks Rickstar. Glad you enjoyed it. The last one I saw was Race 3 3D in theaters before it was gone, and the 3D was impressively medium, high medium and some strong 3D in there. Really nicely done for a conversion, considering it won't be on blu ray 3D more than likely. If the rights owners keep the 3D elements though, they could always be released in the future.

------ 2.0 3D Review: Theater: Cinemark 3D theater, center row, middle seat, sitting upright. Great projection without any 3D projection issues. Bright with good contrast. 3D PREVIEW: Captain Marvel: Medium to strong 3D layering. 3D looks great. 2.0 Movie 3D: 3D Layering: 10/10. This was filmed largely in 3D. Some medium 3D shots, but mostly high medium and strong 3D. 3D Pop Outs: Plentiful and mostly high medium to strong layered pop outs. They really tried to push the 3D pop outs throughout the movie. 3D Framing: 9/10. This was clearly filmed with 3D in mind, though there were quite a few shots that cropped off some tops of heads. The majority though, looks like it was well framed for fun, 3D compositions. Favorite 3D Shot: When Chitti the android was running backwards up the skyscraper shooting machine guns at the giant hawk claw that was chasing him, as you could see the ground far below with the framed at a great angle, showcasing the perspective. Plenty of strong 3D throughout. 3D Summary: 10/10 So the very strong 3D in the opening credits revealed this was filmed in Native 3D. The Conversion team for certain shots and effects said Prime Focus and DNeg (they're related conversion studios). It really stinks that such artistry with the strong 3D in 2.0 may only exist for a limited time in theaters and then not show up on blu ray 3D for this generation of home 3D. The film itself was entertaining, and comical for some of its social commentary it was making about people's reliance on cell phones, and how they could affect the lives of birds. The solution at the end of the film had me laughing, though it probably wasn't intended to be funny. I'm not sure exactly. The movie has a more serious sense of humor about it, not going for direct laughs it seems. But I enjoyed it, along with the music, and the 10 minute closing dance number with the fancy, lit up costumes was entertaining too, with strong 3D once again. If you're a fan of mostly filmed, strong 3D, 2.0 is a must see. |

for the 3rd year in a row the top grossing movie in india could be a south indian movie, so not a bollywood movie KGF is also going to do well this year, incredible for a movie from the kannada film industry |
