Gets my vote for best use of 3-D in theatrical exhibition for 2018. The
scene that sticks in my mind is when Dr. V and Nila are walking through
a village early in the movie. Nice use of foreground objects there. I
counted 3 Wilhelm screams during the construction attack sequence.
Cool! Glad you enjoyed it and the 3D. It's going to appeal to a niche audience, but 3D fans should consider seeing it especially. But the price was expensive.

I imagine the studio was able to affect the pricing, but also getting it into theaters for the 3D showings may have played a factor too. I was thinking to myself, "Say what?" when the lady said $15 for a ticket. I then thought it might be the XD theater, but then I saw on the ticket, "Special Event". The movie looked like fun, and I was going to see it for the 3D anyway. And the opening credits have 3D as strong as the Imax countdown numbers.

Despite the high price for a regular 3D theater showing (not XD3D), I don't regret seeing it. The 3D kicked @ss and I'd say 95% of it was filmed and mostly stronger 3D. The opening credits used the words "Native 3D".

Sad that this won't have a blu ray 3D release.

Saw 2.0 today. The 3D is excellent. There's strong depth 100% of the time and usually nice roundness. Tons of pop-outs. It looks very similar to a recent Tsui Hark movie in this regard.

However, the plot is dull, the comedy is unfunny, and the male protagonist is tired. Watching it feels very similar to a Michael Bay Transfromers sequel, complete with a very attractive Indian version of Megan Fox. 50% of the runtime is a barrage of explosions and CGI nonsense. The ~10min intermission at the halfway point let me take a welcomed power nap. The second half of the film rewinds time to give the 20-30min backstory of the villain, providing the only emotional tug in the film, returning to CGI afterwards. The best part of the movie by far is the Bollywood dance music video as the credits roll. Very entertaining choreography and short and sweet with great 3D.

Movie 2/5
3D 5/5

Cool, glad you enjoyed the outstanding 3D in 2.0, BleedOrange. It was an expensive ticket price, but thankfully the 3D delivered. I wonder how the filmmakers feel about it not being on blu ray 3D anywhere.

My ticket was $21 after online fees and tax. Not sure it was worth that, but now my curiosity is satiated and at least I'll have seen it before it disappears.

Although I actually think there's a decent chance this will get a 3D bluray in France or Germany, most likely without English subtitles.

so far 2.0 is the highest grossing movie in india this year
for the 3rd year in a row the top grossing movie in india could be a south indian movie, so not a bollywood movie
KGF is also going to do well this year, incredible for a movie from the kannada film industry

I think they made and are still making good money on the theatrical release.

I think France is most likely but let's hope it gets a 3D Blu-ray release somewhere with English subtitles.

That's hopeful if it's getting a blu ray 3D release somewhere potentially.

Koch Media releases a lot if 3D in Germany, not necessarily with English subtitles. Capelight Pictures released Mojin in 3D with English subtitles.

It was bananas. The 3D wasn't the best I've ever seen in the theater, that still goes to Journey to the West: The Demons Strike Back, but it was phenomenal.

a telugu (south indian) movie gets released soon in 3D on youtube, officially:
it was a big movie in 3D
not as big as 2.0 though
it's not a bluray, but at least an accessible 3D version for home

2.0 to break records for 3D screening in china: 47 000 + 3D screens (out of 56 000 screens, sounds like people will mostly be seeing it in 3D) for a foreign movie
it could pass 1000 crores with this

The 3D in 2.0 did not disappoint me.
The only error I noticed for the most part, was a shot of a gate opening, and a kid was hanging on it as it opened, but the 3D was reversed, so everything was inverted. Otherwise, a great combination of mostly strong filmed 3D, with a few converted 3D shots here and there. It's unfortunate the mostly strong 3D in 2.0 may only be seen once if this doesn't get a blu ray 3D release soon.

While it's not in 3D, 2.0 is not available to stream for free on Amazon Prime. Just found it there last night.

It's an interesting story/action picture, though the 3D really was most impressive for filmed 3D, with a good range of medium to strong 3D layering.

Just watched it today with the wife. We loved the insanity of the first one. We did enjoy part two but it is not as good as the first. We did appreciate the message about technology and nature but we missed the lightheartedness and songs from the first one.
