This is one of the rare times where I have no desire to see a remake of one of my favorite movies what's so ever. Well, you can say that about most remakes really. But at least there is some curiosity with all those other remakes like Evil Dead, Fright Night, RoboCop, etc. But I just give no shits about the 2012 version of Total Recall.

Whoever votes for the remake should have their arms ripped off.

Try it kemosabe!

I voted the remake, because I prefer it over the 1990 version... BUT I still love the shit out of the 90 movie as a classic Arnold vehicle.

1990 hands down. Colin Farrell is too skinny to convincingly play such an action hero, though he is 5’ 11” and 180 pounds, making him only three inches shorter but 115 pounds lighter than Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is very muscular.

Quaid wasn't supposed to be a big muscular action hero. The story was about an everyman in an extraordinary situation. Richard Dreyfuss was going to be initially cast when the film adaptation was first being developed.

Viewers in 1990: Arnold Schwarzenegger doesn't play a convincing everyman.

Viewers in 2012: Colin Farrell doesn't play a convincing Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The remake is everything that's wrong with modern action films. It's tone deaf and monotonous. Sleek, but tedious. One of the worst films of this century so far.

1990 is the smartest film Arnold has done, being both an action story and a hallucination. It drops hints like "that's a new one, blue sky on Mars" and the fade to white at the end but it leaves enough ambiguity for the viewer to decide. 2012 isn't just the dumbest film Colin Farrell made, it's one of the dumbest ever made - The Fall

I'm one of the 3 that voted the remake, but I don't do contrarian. I don't do or say anything that gains me nothing, like those edgelords that think they're being too cool for the consensus. Only thing I'm gaining here is transparency, and individual taste. It's not impossible to like something that goes against the norm.

Is TR 1990 arguably the greatest modelwork film until Peter Jackson's Lord Of The Rings trilogy kicked off in 2001? I'd argue absolutely. An absolute feast for the eyes...

1990, it’s a masterpiece in storytelling, special effects and violence.
They don’t make them like that anymore.

The 2012 version goes back to the original Philip K Dick story but also doubles down on being a remake of 1990 (right down to calling it Total Recall for some reason). Problem is... the 1990 film often deviated wildly from the Philip K. Dick story, so 2012 is a bit incoherent as a result. Why include stuff like the 3 breasted woman when you've removed all the Mars and mutant stuff created for the 1990 version? 2012 TR is a great example of trying to have your cake and eat it too. If they'd have just stuck to "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale" without trying to also lazily ride on the back of the 1990 film, they might have created something great, much like John Carpenter did with The Thing.
It didn't occur to you that the girl with 3 tits was the result of augmented surgery? The part of town that Quaid was in had cosmetic facilities, tattoo parlors, escort services, and Rekall of course among other things. Don't have to be a mutant to have 3 tits, there's a real life woman who had a third breast put in. Just sayin, it was a nod to the 90 film and it still made sense.
