BURBANK, CA (August 10, 2021) Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and DC are celebrating the 25th anniversary of Superman: The Animated Series with a fully remastered Blu-ray TM box set. Superman: The Complete Animated Series, which includes several hours of bonus features headlined by an all-new documentary detailing the creation of one of the most beloved animated Super Hero cartoons in history, will be available starting October 12, 2021.
Produced by Warner Bros. Animation (WBA), the Emmy Award-winning Superman: The Animated Series was the perfect follow-up to the landmark Batman: the Animated Series. Producers Bruce Timm, Paul Dini and Alan Burnett elevated The Man of Steel’s animated presence with an imaginative, heartfelt look at Superman’s adventures in Metropolis alongside Lois Lane and opposite the villainous likes of Lex Luthor, Brainiac, Darkseid and more. Premiering on September 6, 1996, the series continued WBA’s dominance in Super Hero animation, once again setting new standards for storytelling, art direction and acting performances – and garnering 11 Emmy Award nominations and two Emmy Award wins, including top honors as the Outstanding Special Class Animated Program of 1998.

The remarkable Superman: The Complete Animated Series box set features nearly 21 hours of entertainment spread over six Blu-ray™ discs, including all 54 exciting episodes, an all-new series-defining featurette entitled Superman: Timeless Icon, a special video commentary episode and three specially selected episodes with audio commentaries by the showrunners. All 54 episodes have been remastered from the original 35mm Interpositive sources, giving special attention to extensive color correction, dirt and scratch clean up, and adding a grain reduction pass to create a pristine picture, all while making sure not to affect the original lines in the artwork of the animation. The audio was retransferred from the original audio masters, and the series is presented in its original aspect ratio (4x3).

I really hope not. As we've gotten Batman: TaS and Batman: Beyond this seems like the logical next step.

I've been holding off rewatching my DVDs in hope. The Flesicher cartoons are masterpieces, Superman 78 is a great film, but nothing comes closer to being the definitive Supes adaptation than TAS.

I am doing the same. I'm enjoying my Justice League (2001) and Justice League Unlimited (2004) blu-rays while I wait for next month's release.

This one was long overdue and now the entire DCAU (at least the main shows/films under Bruce Timm & Paul Dini) are now fully on Blu-ray disc. Justice League/JLU was already on BD years ago but maybe WB will rerelease that show in a new box set who knows.

I can't remember if it's JL or JLU, but one of them isn't completely on blu ray.

When they were released on DVD, JLU seasons one and two were released together and mistakingly labeled as "season one," thus season three was then labeled "season two" when it was released. This mistake was carried over to the Blu-ray releases as well.

With the other DCAU shows getting Blu-ray box sets, I've been hoping JL/JLU would get re-released as such, too, perhaps with JL season one finally providing a widescreen version in addition to the full-screen version.

There was no mistake carried over because the JLU blu-ray is all one set.

Next year does make sense, but until I get a more reliable source, I'm not inclined to believe this just yet.

I just heard back from a contact at Warner Bros who said this is not official.

its gonna come out next year no matter when its announced Superman TAS turns 25 next year and Warners put our Batman Beyond on its 25th and Batman TAS on its 30th or 35th I can't remember.

Also Dave Lee has his sources and will make a video when he gets more official news. he has always been on the money with his stuff.

Batman Beyond came out last year on its 20th anniversary. Next year being Superman's 25th anniversary makes a lot of sense for them to release it on Blu-ray.
