Sony announces Crouching Tiger - Blu-ray Forum

Releases on Jan 16 th. (While unheard of for a Sony title, 'Crouching Tiger' does not appear to also include an uncompressed PCM 5.1 option)

Good title for Sony to release.
One would only assume if they forego the PCM it would be for either the TrueHD or DTS-MA lossless tracks?

i would think so doby. of course, they need about 20 different audio tracks and 30 sets of subtitles

I'd like great audio but as long as the movie is in it's original language with English subs I'll happily buy this one.

It sucks not to have 24/48 LPCM 5.1 on this one. Should be relatively easy, even on BD25. Original audio on LPCM and the dubbed languages on DD 640kbps. Sony PE disappoints me...

IMHO with lossles codecs uncompressed sound should be simply banned. I don't see a single reason for having it.

Sadly the image quality on some of these Asian movies is not the greatest.

You can see on the Disney trailer the difference between Pirates and Hero - it is quite significant (Pirates amazing, Hero not so much).

It will be interesting to see how CTHD comes out.
