Default Ticket to Paradise | George Clooney & Julia Roberts

Quote:
George Clooney and Julia Roberts are reuniting on screen. The pair of Hollywood royalty will star in an original romantic comedy called “Ticket to Paradise” that’s set at Universal.

Ol Parker, the director behind “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again,” will direct the film from a script by Parker and Daniel Pipski. Plot details however are being kept under wraps.

Clooney and Roberts previously starred together in the “Ocean’s” films and last reunited for “Money Monster” from director Jodie Foster in 2011.

More to come… ¥

Is this reference the J.J. Abrams project? This keeps popping up in conversations.

Was definitely more recent than 2011...

At least Roberts and Clooney got a nice trip out of it.

This was charming. There aren't any big laughs, but a steady stream of pleasant chuckles, and it's a pleasure to see real star wattage up on the big screen again. Twenty years ago a Clooney/Roberts romcom pairing would have made $200 million at the box office.

I agree. Here were my quick thoughts on Letterboxd:

If you thought the trailer pretty much showed you the whole movie...
well, you're absolutley correct. There's no surprises here, and everything happens exactly as you predict it will (and as the trailer already showed you), but it's still fun to see a light, fun romcom in the theater again.

The film 's best asset is the cast. Honestly, it's probably closer to a 3-star movie, but the cast makes me wanna give an extra bump. Kaitlyn Dever continues her hot streak, and while George Clooney and Julia Roberts really overplay the animosity between the exes, it's still just great to see those two doing something FUN again and not so serious. They both have such natural charm, but it's been years since either of them have been in a light, fun movie, and a decade or two since they were doing them with any frequency. 3.5/5

Writing really has gone into the dumper.

I'm reminded of Tomorrowland, which might have been the inflection point downward for the Clooney career revival. The prevailing thought was that Clooney was bad in the film, but when I saw it, Clooney was fine in the film, it was the script that let everyone down, but Clooney became the fall guy.

Was thoroughly entertained by this. Its EXACTLY the movie you think its going to be; where it starts, where it ends and every single beat in between. But if you are okay with that its a delightful time because of the chemistry of the cast. Clooney and Roberts have always been good together and here is no exception. Maybe one or two big laughs but a number of smaller ones along the way.

Though I do wish Brad Pitt had made a surprise cameo.

My wife & I saw this last night and agree that both leads have never lost their charm... but Bali does NOT look like that.
