Get ready to prey, slay and display this Summer with an all-new definitive Blu-ray edition of the appreciated 2005 remake of HOUSE OF WAX! Here are the early details we have at current time to share:
• National street date for North America (Region A) is July 13th!
• This will be presented as a Collector’s Edition and will come guaranteed with a slipcover in its first three months of release.
• The newly commissioned artwork pictured comes to us from artist Joel Robinson. This art will be front-facing, and the reverse side of the wrap will feature the original theatrical artwork.
• Extras will be announced on a later date. However, we can confirm already that there is a new HD transfer created specifically for this release and a new interview with actress Paris Hilton.

I’ve been waiting for this one! Nice to hear that there’s a new scan. And a new interview with Paris Hilton is definitely a selling feature for me! I’m excited to hear about the rest of the extras.

Where do you see a new interview with Paris? I just see "extras tba". Although I'm sure she probably would do one, not like she's doing anything else lately.

I expected to hate her and the movie but gave it a chance based the strength of the previous Dark Castle "remakes" at the time, glad I did. She wasn't too distracting and had an awesome death scene/sequence.

Chad (allegedly) cheated on Sophia Bush with Paris during the filming. Didn't help their, or the film's reputation considering Sophia was kind of America's sweetheart at the time.

Oh good, the movie always looked drab in prior releases, so a new transfer was needed. Just wish they did that for 13 Ghosts, and Ghost Ship.

This is really more of a remake of Tourist Trap than the movie whose title it bears.

It's one of a slew of classic horror updates that flooded theaters in the 2000s, throwaway Friday night fare when I was in HS. This one got a lot of excessive heat because of the casting of Paris Hilton.

Nevertheless, there was something about this one that prompts me to want to give it a second chance. I bet current reviews will treat it more favorably than the contemporary ones when it was released.

Never saw the original, but the remake was just awful. None of the characters were remotely likable and the story is a mess with some disgusting deaths. The

scene in particular was needlessly barf bag-inducing. And of course, Paris Hilton can't act her way out of a wet paper bag with directions on it.

Anything in a horror movie that might make someone think of using a barf bag is a bonus for me. I've seen it twice since it came out. It's fairly innocuous in terms of bloody effects compared to other horror titles.

I prefer that they came up with a new plot. A remake of a classic usually doesn't work well. As I mentioned in another thread though, I loved the idea of a wax town. That probably was what made me like this movie more than I expected.

I actually only realized this past weekend that I still have the original blu ray release. It had been on my shelf the whole time but I had always assumed I'd gotten rid of it years ago. I'll hold off watching it again til I trade up.

I remember the same, but it was from a time when hadn't yet seen a lot of bad horror movies. I've seen a lot of terrible ones since then (and have even learned how to appreciate even the bad ones), and I'm fairly certain this will compare favorably to them.

I remember most of the cast from their TV shows in the early 2000s. Like you, I've seen plenty of good and bad horror movies since then. I can better appreciate the bad efforts as well.

It can't be worse than that godawful Black Christmas 2019 remake at least. Or the 2008 Prom Night remake.
