Default The Birds II: Land's End (1994)

So for those who don't know, Universal made a loose sequel to The Birds (1963) for Showtime. It quickly languished into obscurity and hasn't even been given a DVD release.

This month, Tubi TV put it up on their service: https://tubitv.com/movies/617506/the-birds-ii-lands-end

Unless I'm mistaken and there was another digital release out there, this marks the first time it has been available in any official capacity since Goodtimes' 1997 VHS.

I know it's a lame cash-grab but it still astounds me that it has been 24 years since it's last official release in physical/digital form.

Director Rick Rosenthal took his name off of this movie, so you know it's good!

I bought the German DVD, I gave up on waiting for a domestic release on disc. Got me excited for a few seconds when I saw the post before clicking on it thinking a BD release was announced lol.

I watched this on Tubi recently! It's not very good, but hardly the shitshow its reputation would have you believe. It's a comfortably standard DTV sequel. It's just that the original is such an iconic classic, even a good movie would pale in comparison (Jaws 2 syndrome).

Doing my monthly watch of everything leaving Tubi from my watchlist, watched this Friday. I THINK I saw it back when it came out. It was pretty lame. Not a shitshow, just super bland. Some bad CGI in the final third.

Just dumb to bring Tippi Hedren back...and make her play a totally different character.

The new audio commentary explains why she played a different character.

I've noticed several other made for showtime movies have been appearing on Tubi lately, Movies like Bloodknot, The Courtyard and Kidnapped. I don't know who owns the rights to all of them but i hope they get a blu-ray release.

Rainy Saturday Afternoon movie.

Saw it on Showtime in 1994.

I haven't seen it since so I won't rate it. I don't remember enough.

James Cameron saw this post and quickly went to work on a Titanic sidequel Carpathia: The Hours Before Titanic's Sinking. $250M budget. Available in 3D.

I seem to recall there was a rumored remake for years that had Naomi Watts attached to star. I'm glad it never came to fruition. Hitchcock can't be duplicated.

I'm not necessarily opposed to remakes, but remaking The Birds is like remaking Jaws or ET. How and why would you do that?

Have birds in real life, been know to swarm humans like this and attack? Yes. Just visit any beach where people hold up cheese doodles or snacks.
