Default Warner preparing its encodes for Blu-level ?

Engadget is reporting that Warner is downgrading its HD DVD releases

http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/01/31...nter/#comments

... by omitting some Bonuses included in the Blu Ray version.

Someone noticed that it could very well be because the HD DVD simply does not have the space for it. I found this to be very interesting

All I care about is whether WB will put LOSSLESS audio on those damned BDs.

Warner, what's the problem?!?

Took the words right out of my mouth! The PCM tracks on the Departed and 300 were great, need to keep using it!

I think Warners is doing encodes for specifically Blu now, but HD-DVD will probably get the same transfer without the extras because of space concerns. The three weeks delay for movies on HD-DVD is probably to ensure that enough copies of the Blu ovies are made and less errors in terms of manufacturing and shipping. Again, I'm no insider or anything, but that just seems to make sense. Lets hope once HD-DVD is dead, we'll get better encodes and lossless audio in every title.

I don't get Warner - I mean weren't they using low bit DD tracks on DVD too?
