Stage a bogus kidnapping, collect the ransom, take 10% off the top and have a nice life, see ya later. They told Harry Barber the plan would work like clockwork. But it is hapless Harry who is running out of time. Woody Harrelson is Harry, a Florida drifter who goes from perpetrator to patsy when lured into an abduction swindle proposed by a mysterious blonde. Director Volker Schlondorff (The Tin Drum, The Handmaid’s Tale) steadily raises the stakes as Harry scrambles to untangle the mystery involving three women (Elisabeth Shue, Gina Gershon, Chloe Sevigny), false identities, cold corpses and a string of murderous clues that set him up for an extremely hard fall.

to be real, this should have come to blu 15 years ago.

this is most likely the last physical release for this, so, yeah, it is upsetting that it is just a blu with no extras. not even a press featurette. just a trailer.

this is a movie that was shot on film, and a movie that is all about how hot it is. the texture and the sweat would really be great in 4K. it would even make the movie play better.

if you gave me the option of $12 for a blu or $30 for a 4K of this title, i would take the 4K without a moments hesitation.

I always love me some southern Neo-Noir! I haven't seen this since I owned the VHS! I never even bought it on DVD. I honestly kinda forget most of this movie, other than I remember liking it back in the day.

Same - I started to read the synopsis but then I stopped - I remember almost nothing, so I'm excited to see it again after all these years since I only watched it once back in the day on VHS to begin with.

Was like watching it again for the first time.

It's funny, because back when this released, the previews looked like your typical "Sexy" noir-ish movie that would release.

Now those are long gone and I'm looking forward to finally watching this, haha.

surprised this wasn’t more successful/talked about at the time and now.

harrelson after an oscar nod for larry flint, shut after being in leaving las vegas. came out after wild things, which was a success.

i miss these types of movies more and more and can’t believe how good we had it in the 90s, a decade that sometimes gets a lot of flack.

I've barely even heard of this movie, but I might indulge in a blind-buy. I just re-watched BODY HEAT (1981) and had a great time with that.

I don't remember much of this one either. Last time I saw it was when it first came out on video. I'll pick it up though. I'll always welcome another addition to Florida noir.
