Default Setting up my new tv tonight

I set up my new tv/bd player tonight (read signature). I need new hdmi cables (6ft.) b/c my 3ft. cables don't reach. dang.

I put in one of my free bd's - 50 First Dates. I really couldn't tell the picture was any better. I know the hdmi will improve - but am I doing something else wrong?

Also, what should I have my BD30 set to for upconverting? it's set to 1080i - but again...I can't tell a difference from when it's set to 480i.

Thanks

Have you tried watching a DVD yet? You said it is a new TV. When putting in a Blu movie people often say "it is not that much better than DVD" but when you put in a DVD, even better if it is the same movie you have on Blu then they fall in to two camps:

1) "Wow, that is much better"
2) I am too proud to admit that I could not tell the difference "I guess it is better"

If your not using a HDMI cable, what kind of cable are you using? Remember if your using the composite cables, your BD movie will only output in 480i. Just because you have a HDTV and a HD players, that doesn't actually mean you are watching HD unless you are using the right cables.

When you get those HDMIs, you WILL see the difference. Good things come to those who wait...But get them ASAP!

Thanks guys, yeah - it's gotta just be b/c I'm using the component cables. I will be getting my 6ft cables in a couple days. I was so bummed my 3 fts would not reach! doh.

my 360 looks amazing though. (again, even better once I hook it up with the hdmi!)

Also getting Directv HD this weekend. I'll keep everyone posted. So far so good.
